Foolish me, I went and paid full price for this book because I was dying to read it. It was very interesting, about a violent crime, and the men who felt that they were commanded by God to do such a thing. Involves a lot of history about the LDS church, some not very favorably expressed. So, it might offend some people. But still a book that will keep your attention to the end.

I've finished reading the book and did a search of wish lists. I've offered it as a RABCK to Miss-Efficiency. Hope to hear from her soon so I can send it off and start this little book on its journey!
Edited to Add 10-13-04: on its way to Miss-Efficiency! Mailed today!

Arrived in the mail today. Thanks so much! I've been dying to read this since it came out.
A fascinating examination of the history of the Mormon church and its various sects and offshoots. I didn't really know all that much about Mormons prior to reading this book. I had heard of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, but it was interesting to learn more of the details of their lives. I liked the flow of the book, with the different stories intermingled.
I don't feel I know enough to judge how accurate Krakauer's depiction of the history and events is, but nevertheless if was a good read that has made me want to learn more. In particular I'd like to know whether Ron Lafferty has been executed or not in the time that has passed since the book was released.
I will pass this book on to another BookCrosser, either through my OBCZ, a meetup, or the wish lists.
