Magical realism again, a lovely love story, but also a warning about being careful what you wish for :O)

Not my usual sort of thing but if there's a food connection I'm sure I'm gonna enjoy it....

I've mixed feelings about this book, while overall I enjoyed it I couldn't help but be disappointed with the ending. I loved idea of Tilo being a Mistress of Spice & each chapter being dedicated to a particular spice & how it would be used to help someone. I also liked the mystical aspect with the magical side to Tilo's past & how she learned her craft. However, the Lonely American was a different matter, though his past came as no surprise (well, once I knew his name it was obvious) & while I was intriugued by the way the spices reacted to Tilo's interest in him, something about him didn't sit well for me - though I can't put my finger on why! The ending therefore seemed a bit of a cop out & I'd expected a bit more given the tales potential.

Might pass onto another BCer, although I'm up in Scotland at the moment so may just release it up here to save me taking it home :o)
