I really enjoyed this book. The setting was great and the twists and turns just kept on coming. This is a good book to curl up with on a cold night!
Here is the book jacket description:
Twenty years ago, Jane Hudson fled the Heart Lake School for Girls in the Adirondacks after a terrible tragedy. The week before her graduation, in that sheltered wonderland, three lives were taken, all victims of suicide. Only Jane was left to carry the burden of a mystery that has stayed hidden in the depths of Heart Lake for more than two decades. Now Jane has returned to the school as a Latin teacher, recently separated and hoping to make a fresh start with her young daughter. But ominous messages from the past dredge up forgotten memories. And young, troubled girls are beginning to die again–as piece by piece the shattering truth slowly floats to the surface. . . .

RELEASE NOTES:
I got this in the mail today. I've got a couple books ahead of it, but I'm a fast reader so it shouldn't take too long at all. Thanks for starting this bookring!
What a fantastically written story. I could not put it down and have spent the last three nights reading far later into the night than I should have. But, it's so well written and there are so many twists and so much to figure out. I may have to check out Goodman's other book if it sounds as good as this one did.
Received today, looking forward to reading it. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing this book. This was my 1st read by Carol Goodman and I would like to read others by her. This was a slow read for me w/ the rehashing of the same events, however it did hold my interest as secrets from the past were eventually revealed. Sending off to Lauraloo29 01/19.
Arrived today. I have FOUR rings before it. Feeling slightly overwhelmed about that. Not to worry. I'll keep the book moving. :)
Just a note to say I have started the book today! Already my interest is picqued (sp)!
My regular reading time is on the bus to and from work, but for the last few days I have been reading this book anywhere I can. Including during the commercials of my favorite tv show!
I too had the ending figured out. But it was still a satisfying read.
I will forward this on to arturogrande, as Brujula has asked to be moved down the list. Thank you for sharing!

I loved the atmosphere which pervaded every page of this book - a tribute to Goodman's writing style.
I too had figured out what was going on about halfway through the book, but it was enjoyable seeing how the author (and the characters) got there.
The cold and remote setting of Heart Lake School was very well evoked, and the rites and rituals reminded me very much of some of the strange things we did at school (we were all obsessed with Lord Byron in the Sixth Form).
I'm not too familiar with Latin, but I think the way this 'dead language' was used throughout the book was very clever, and brought an extra dimension to the story.
Thanks very much, PrincessJCM for starting this ring. It's now on its way to minabomb.
