Journal Entry 4 by Pequete from Bragança, Bragança Portugal on Friday, May 20, 2005
After too much postponing because rings and rays kept pouring in, I finally picked up this one. I have just finished it and don’t really know yet how I got through 600 pages so fast… I enjoyed this book a lot and the strange thing is that I don’t really know why. It is an ordinary story about ordinary people written in a very simple style and yet I just couldn’t put it down. I will certainly read more by Maeve Binchy. Thank you billhookbabe for being so kind as to send it to this beginner bookcrosser who didn’t even offer you something in return... you will always be welcome at my bookshelf if something catches your eye there. The book will now go to other homes through a bookray by the following order:
1-patxocas
2-Fantasma
3-BookHaven01
4-Elsita
5- Witchie
6-Chibia
7- JoanaD-Arc
8-PCSAF
9-dangerouswoman3
10-ichigochi
11-cristina-m
12-avenalve
13-you?

Journal Entry 7 by patxocas from Câmara de Lobos, Madeira Portugal on Wednesday, July 27, 2005
Just read it.
And really, really enjoyed it.
Like Pequete said: It is an ordinary story about ordinary people written in a very simple style and yet I just couldn’t put it down..

I found similarities between the personages of the book and some people I know, such as Cathy's mother. :P

Is going to Fantasma now.

Journal Entry 8 by Fantasma from Carnaxide, Lisboa (distrito) Portugal on Monday, August 8, 2005
Here it is! I just read my first Maeve Binchy book a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it, so I'm looking forward to reading this one too!

Picking it up as soon as I finish the bookring I'm currently reading.

Thanks Pequeté and patxocas!

Journal Entry 9 by Fantasma from Carnaxide, Lisboa (distrito) Portugal on Tuesday, August 23, 2005
So... it took me a little while to read this book. Not that I wasn't enjoyng it, but I had little time, for one side, and for the other side at the beginning the story wasn't really catching me...
I believe that if this was my 1st Binchy book, I wouldn't have become such a fan... But I've heard of many people who loved this book ;o)

Anyway, having said that, I liked the book!! Not as much as Circle of Friends, because in this one it seemed too much circling information and not enough development of the story, but when I had time to read for an hour or 2 in a row, it was really difficult to put down. The author really grabs our attention to the ordinary lifes of ordinary people, making us feel like we know them.

I won't loose Ms Binchy from sight (O_ô)

Thanks again, Pequete, sendind to BookHaven01 asap!

I loved it! Finished it last night, very very late... but I couldn't put it down until it was over. This writer is amazing! This was my second Binchy and now I can really say I'm addicted!
The fact that it is just a story about people, ordinary people like me or anyone I could know or meet makes it so real and creates an enormous sense of identification. I adored it!

Thanks Pequete! I'll contact Chibia and send it to her as soon as possible.

Journal Entry 23 by ichigochi from Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto Portugal on Tuesday, December 19, 2006
I'm sorry for keeping the book for so long.. it wasn't the book's fault, it just took me a while to pick it up and start reading it.

It was a very enjoyable reading but still not so much as the other Maeve Binchy's books I've read... Like Fantasma said, if this were my first Binchy, I don't know if I would have become a fan so readily.
Besides, with all the descriptions and compliments to the Scarlet Feather food (and Tom's bread) it was really frustrating not being able to taste anything.. :)

I've contacted cristina-m but she didn't answer my PM.
It seems that the book will be traveling to Brazil, I'm just waiting for avenalve's address.

22 December: It started its journey today, to the other side of the Atlantic.. let's see how long it will take to arrive there :)

Journal Entry 24 by avenalve from São Paulo, São Paulo Brazil on Thursday, January 4, 2007
The book arrived today. I'll read it as soon as I finish reading Saramago's "Pequenas Memórias".
Thanks, ichigochi

I've never read anything from Maeve Binchy until I've heard from her here at the BC portuguese forum. Then I saw an irish movie based in Tara Road.
I liked Scarlet Feather but I wouldn't say I was "hooked" by the author.

Após quase desistir, passei a ler ávidamente este livro, e finalmente acabei. A estória convence... No entanto é bastante diferente:... Nada de assasinatos, a trama é feita de eventos e paixões do dia a dia. Gostei

Encontrei o livro no restaurante Crepe das Artes (ou algo assim) e trouxe pra BH. Vou ler aqui.
Achei legal a ideia dos livros no restaurante, mas só tinha coisa esquisita. Esse foi o melhor que encontrei.
