Journal Entry 4 by Kyrissaean from Littleton, New Hampshire USA on Tuesday, November 30, 2004
It's here! I've got the last 1/3 of my current book left to go and then I'll jump right into this one. I saw the movie and thought it was okay as a rental, but wouldn't have been worth seeing at the theater. I keep hearing that the book is much better though, and I've got a hunch that's true. From what I remember of the movie, this may be one of those stories that's better when it's told instead of shown, you know? I guess I'll soon see! I can already tell you it's got a promising first page, 'cos I peeked!

Journal Entry 5 by Kyrissaean from Littleton, New Hampshire USA on Thursday, December 16, 2004
This was a very sweet story, and I enjoyed reading it! The movie was very true to the book (at least as far as I remember...), although there were a few extra plot elements in the book. And they picked very slender actresses to play the female leads--but Novalee is written as slightly chubby when the book opens, and Lexie is discribed as "pillowy" and at least 60 pounds over weight! Ah, Hollywood.... The author has a very easy writing style, which fits very well with both the story and the characters themselves. And speaking of characters, I'm not sure the original boyfriend added much. Sometimes I thought he was sort of a good contrast, but others I thought he didn't fit in with the rest of the plot that well. As a little added bonus to me, on page 200 there is a mention of Sallisaw, OK--which is a real and tiny town where my great-grandparents lived all their lives and raised my grandmother (great-granddad owned a pharmacy with a real soda fountain, and my great-grandmother taught school in the one room school house!). Hi, Sallisaw! :) This is going out to ToXiCKiTTiKiSS in today's mail. Happy reading!

Journal Entry 6 by ToXiCKiTTiKiSS from Temecula, California USA on Thursday, January 06, 2005
I've just finished reading this yesterday, and I forgot to journal it when I received it. I really enjoyed this book. The funny thing is the movie came on t.v. when I was halfway through the book. Didn't like the movie much at all, because they changed it so much. Anyways, this was a great story but it just didn't seem to end right. I was expecting a little more. Will be sending to the next person when I receive an address.
