6 out of 10

This was one of the many that I ended up with at the Mini-Meetup in Noarlunga!! I was going to wild release it but having discovered that I had too much time on my hands at the boyfriends place I decided that it was the best of a bad bunch and started to read it to pass the time. OHH was that bad!!! LOL I got sucked into it like a big bad vacum and found it difficult to put down. Mainly think because the heroine is so different than many of the ones that i have read over the years. And yet... strangely enough, the same as well. She's feisty which is a good start, she wants to marry for love alone (well what would be the point of the book if she didn't, it is after all a romance!!!) and is willing to put up with the drudgery of that decision dispite a very handsome and rich fellow (OK he's a Marquis!!!) being keen to marry her.

Oh the twisting turns of a romance novel. Boy meets girl, boy wishes to marry girl despite having only spoken to her once and forgotten her existance ever since (oh yeah and because mother says she a good girl and would make a good wife), girl runs away to join the theater, boy is disappointed and can't understand any woman refusing his advances cos he's such a "catch", boy consoles himself with a couple of glasses of wine and an actress, boy meets girl who is working as an actress, boy falls in love with said actress who is really girl pretending, girl falls in love with boy but cant marry him now cos she's an actress, boy declares love to girl, girl smiles simperingly at boy, boy runs off to war.

And of course there is a happy ending!!! What would be the point after all that dancing around each other!!! Yawn!!! I think I had better read something different next time!!! Like maybe a fantasy romance!!! Now there's some scope for an interesting plot!

Bottom line..... for what it was it wasn't a bad book, in fact quite readable. But I can't cope too much with regency heroines, and as much as I like historicl romances I think I may have read too many of them to be able to fully enjoy this offering. Or maybe it's the cynic coming out in me LOL

Anyway, now to release!!!
