Journal Entry 1 by charmedwitch23 from Sydney, New South Wales Australia on Wednesday, September 29, 2004
Bought this 2nd hand from my local library for release. 'The production of Gilbert and Sullivan's "Ruddigore" is where high drama, ghosts, murders and hissy fits all come together. No, that's not necessarily what the playwrights themselves might originally have written. The scene is His Majesty's Theatre, and on charity night the audience gets a little more than what they expected. Two actors collapsing in the same night is hard enough to believe, and the fact that these two actors had the same role? Preposterous. Was there poison in that glass of Dutch courage? Most of the cast and crew have good reason to despise one other but attempting murder in the middle of a show is a bit crass. It's up to private detective Phryne Fisher, glamour gal of 1920's Melbourne, to smooth all ruffled feathers and have it all sorted out by tea time tomorrow.'( http://www.murderandmayhembookclub.com/ruddy_gore.html)

We found the book at the Youth Hostel in Broken Hill & were delighted to be introduced to BookCrossing. Also enjoying the book - great to have an Australian novel!
