This was an easy read, and I love it that Maeve Binchy is very kind to her characters and you do warm to them easily. The book was full of all kinds of sidelines and goings on throughout, and it kept me entertained on my lunch breaks and train journeys.
I will post the book to Lunatum today.

She's very good at depicting characters. Many of them (in which I wouldn't put Kate) are rather pathetic. It's incredible how Patrick can be both generous and perfectly selfish. Sometimes you must leave the past lie undisturbed. A good story but it could have been made a little shorter.

I have really enjoyed this novel.It took me a while to get into it, as is usually a case when I am introduced to many characters... but after some pages, each character acquired their own personality and voice, and they seem to be old-time friends!
Kate and her husband and children, as well as the O'Neills and the whole population of the village became so familiar to me, that it was hard to put the novel down after finishing it. There were also some unexpected twists in the plot, which I won't give up here.
Ms Binchy (see pic) has done it again for me, I find she was a warm and excellent writer, capable of keeping us readers interested in everything she wrote.
