I've skimmed these diary entries and enjoyed the included photographs. The diaries are by Laura Ingalls Wilder and provide a rare behind the scenes look at her life, the life that inspired the Little House series of books. Her daughter Rose provides annotations to many of the photographs.

It's an interesting look at a young family going through hardship and finally manage to establish themselves. Laura's journal are the weakest bits of the book; she wrote them at a time before she had honed her skills as a story teller. The photographs and annotations by Rose are the backbone of the book.

I was a complete Laura Ingalls Wilder fan as a child (the books, certainly not the TV series). I'd never seen or heard of this one which continues the stories I read as a child.
And it's come all the way from California to be with me too!
