8 out of 10

I forgot to journal I finished this last week! Liked this one immensely. Good suspense, very good narrator. I had read this book when it first came out and loved it. Saw this audiobook at a library sale for next to nothing and couldn't resist. What a creepy character the enemy is.

From the back: Bartholomew Lampion is born in Bright Beach, CA on a day of tragedy and terror, when the lives of everyone in family are changed forever.

On this same day, a thousand miles away an evil man learns he has a mortal enemy named Bartholomew. He doesn't know who Bartholomew is, but he begins a search that will become the purpose of his life.

And in San Francisco, a girl is born, the result of a rape. Her survival is miraculous and her destiny linked to the fates of Barty and the man who stalks them.

At the age of three, Barty Lampion is blinded when surgeons reluctantly remove his eyes to save him from a fast-spreading cancer. As the growing boy copes with his blindness and proves to be a prodigy, his mother, and exceptional woman, counsels him that all things happen for a reason, that there is meaning even in his suffering, and that he will affect the lives of people yet unknown to him in ways startling and profound.

At thirteen, Bartholomew regains his sight. How he regains it, why he regains it, and what happens as his amazing life unfolds results in a breathtaking journey of courage, heart-stopping suspense, and high adventure.

To be sent Monday to Narfinmagic as part of an audiobook trade.

This was a very interesting audiobook. It was a good story line but parts of it dragged a bit. I will be sending this audiobook on to Alsgal who accepted it as a RABCK on the wish list forum. I'm hoping that a few more people will be able to listen to this one before it must be retired. Parts of the tape were slightly warped (but still audible), possibly from wear and tear from lots of use. Hope alsgal enjoys it too.

I really enjoyed this audio book. I agree with narfinmagic that there were parts that dragged but overall I enjoyed the storyline.

I was able to listen to all the tapes but you can definitely hear that some of the tapes are getting worn. I'll pass this one along the same way I received it, as an RABCK.

Thanks narfinmagic for sharing.

Thank you so much for sending this! I don't have the money to buy books on tape, and I definately appreciate them during the 1/2 hour drive to school each day (usually at some ungodly hour in the morning).
