Acutely intelligent as Ellis Peters thrillers always are I am looking forward to re-reading these and thank the chum who moved to Vancouver many moons ago leaving a jolly wee collection of Ellis Peters books in my care. Thanks Elspeth.
Update: Jan 06. - I have reserved this for Shadie and then onto Alainas perhaps? [Note to self: Once I have read this I shall contact these bookcrossers to find out if this is still wanted by either of them.]

Book cover: The year is 1142 and civil war continues to rage. In the battle of Lincoln the sheriff of Shropshire is captured and the king himself taken prisoner by his enemies. Nothing more natural than that an exchange of prisoners should take place: the sheriff to be recovered in place of a young Welsh lordling seized in the course of a misguided assault on a convent. But before the exchange can be completed, one captive is murdered. To Brother Cadfael, who first noticed the evidence of unnatural death, falls the task of gathering enough clues to prove it.
For me another satisfying morality tale from the pen of Ellis Peters. The heart-warming nature of the essential goodness within many of her characters and the trials they are put to and the manner in which they react to evil doings and tragedy keep me returning and returning to her work. The message I get is that at the heart of things, remembering that ‘All is Well’ is a thing worth doing for in especially challenging times it’s vitally important to encourage thoughts that give us relief. For then we are better able to tackle what has to be tackled! Now time for this one to scoot off to delight someone else.
This November, 2008, I have received an urgent request for this particular book so have written to find out if an Ellis Peters is still wanted by either Shadie or Alainas as I can offer them others.
Added: 4th Dec – this went into the post on Monday the 1st of December off to dolph1n, and successfully arrived (see below), so she can pass it to a mystery bookcrosser… how exciting…!

Arrived safe and sound. Thank you very much. I am going to start on it straight away.
Not my cup of tea I am afraid but I can see why my dad loved them. I am glad I read it though as my dad was always telling me I should.
I am passing it on to my grandson for his NSS partner.

This was in my NSSFC parcel. Glad to see it as I am working my way through this series and am 2 books before this one. Thanks scoobydoo, and hello to rainbow3. ;-)
Some of the books in this series have been better than others. This was one of the better ones. Event though I could guess what was going to happen, I still enjoyed seeing how things would turn out.

Caught at Meet-up. Thanks bookfrogster!
I really enjoyed the historical aspect of this one more than the mystery, which was a bit average.

Picked this one up At the OBCZ at the Belmont Pickturehouse. I'll read it at some point and probably release it in Norway.
Just finnished reading this one, and i wasn't very impressed. The plot is avarage and the writing a bit boring. When it comes to middle age mysteries, i definetly prefer sister Fidelma.
I have not decided what to do with the book yet, so i'll keep it in my very overloaded bookshelf for now.
