My copy of this book is The Illustrated Modern Library version from 1944/45. I bought it at the outdoor book market at Place du Palais in Vieux Nice (Nice, France) on October 16, 2004.

I enjoyed this book quite a bit. Unfortuantely, this copy is missing about ten pages around page 30 or so - not very useful. I had to seek out a copy at the libray here in Nice so I read those missing pages in French. Good practice for my French, but annoying for both me and whoever finds the book next. Maybe I'll try to find another English copy and copy the missing pages to insert into this copy.

This was my first Dostoyevsky novel and I'd be inclined to read another.
