This is a great mystery series, and this one features a soprano, a great opera diva, always a fun character to portray. Her female lover is beaten in a strange attack, and Brunetti must battle the usual bureaucratic incompetence from his boss to solve that crime, and the ones that follow.

The title refers to the flooding that troubles Venice, and becomes a factor in the story.
