"Wuthering Heights is the wild, passionate story of intense and almost demonic love between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, a foundling adopted by Catherine's father. After Mr Earnshaw’s death, Heathcliff is bullied and humiliated by Catherine's brother Hindley and, wrongly believing that his love for Catherine is not reciprocated, leaves Wuthering Heights, only to return years later as wealthy and polished man. He proceeds to exact a terrible revenge for his former miseries.

The action of the story is chaotic and unremittingly violent, but the accomplished handling of a complex structure, the evocative descriptions of the lonely moor land setting and the poetic grandeur of vision combine to make this unique novel a masterpiece of English literature." (Adapted from the back cover)

I only recently read this classic and I must admit that I really liked it. This book is all about true, long-lasting love that never fades and of course it has a happy ending after all the misery. In my opinion this book is not only for the female readers but for men as well for the narration isn't too syrupy. I do warmly recommend this masterpiece filled with nostalgia!

Thank you, the book came unexpectedly fast! :) Unfortunately I don't have time to read it at once but at least you've got now more time to find some more people from Finland to read it. And if you don't that's allright, I think I can send the book to States meself.
I'm sorry, my English is terrible but that's because I've read German whole day through. Try to understand. :P

I finally finished the book today. It was quite a strange story with all the twists but I liked it. The old English was annoying to read at first but after the first chapters I got used to it. Because I read the book during long period, I got a bit confused with the characters but maybe that was my own fault. :) I considered the Introduction in the book interesting with all the backround information about Emily Brontë and her sisters but the analysis was little too deep for me.

I'd say insanity and stupidity are also quite important topics. So anyway, I'm passing it on.

07. March 2005: Sent to Justicar.

Ok, finally read the book, took me ages, really don´t know why, i liked the story and the raw emotions that described. Pure genius or work of a mad person?
Waiting to be sent to the next one in the BR
