The 100 Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared

I absolutely loved this novel. I laughed and laughed and laughed and even cried a little.
The main character Allan Karlsson is so eccentric, so unique and so over the top unabashed that I wish I could meet him and have a cup of coffee and talk about his life ;)
His (mis)adventure starts because he doesn't want to go to his own 100th birthday party so he decides he won't....and just steps out a window and starts walking. Along the way he meets a host of other unique characters and we learn his very interesting life story.
Well worth the read!
This is going out on a bookring - albeit a small one right now. New names may be added, so send me a pm if you're interested!!!

After a long and eventful life, Allan Karlsson ends up in a nursing home, believing it to be his last stop. The only problem is that he’s still in good health, and one day, he turns 100. A big celebration is in the works, but Allan really isn’t interested (and he’d like a bit more control over his alcohol consumption). So he decides to escape. He climbs out the window in his slippers and embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey.
It would be the adventure of a lifetime for anyone else, but Allan has a larger-than-life backstory: Not only has he witnessed some of the most important events of the twentieth century, he has actually played a key role in them. Quirky and utterly unique, The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared has charmed readers across the world.

This book with a nice and cheerful orange cover and playful BC label finally made it to Bulgaria! Many thanks, cestmoi, for sending it overseas!
For some reason reading this book goes slowly. I beg to finish it by the end of the month. Sorry for the delay!
It seems I tuned slowly to the story but once it clicked, I enjoyed it enormously! What a book! Hilarious, funny, witty, bursting with joy of life! It`s such a relief to be able to look with humour to the events of grand world politics! Absolute delight! Thank you, cestmoi, for sharing!
P.S. I liked very much the physical body of the book as well. The unevenly cut pages were quite nice and cosy:-)).
I have messaged raluk68 to check if she is ready to receive it.

Got it!
Thank you Bookmaniac70 for sending the Spring charm along with it! :)
The book looks gorgeous with it's imperfectly cut and warm orange color! I look forward to read it - April will be that time ;)

Entertaining, but not my cup of tea... I read half way thru it but it didn't kept me interested :(
The idea of the old man `escaping` the oldies house, and getting into all these trouble with or without his will, is amusing! :) But I'm not that motivated to finish it. I might be in `a bad mood for reading` these weeks :D

Enjoy the special humor! :)

The book has arrived, thank you! I'm afraid I have a backlog currently, sorry - I'll get to it as soon as I can.

The adventures of a pensioner who goes on the run, chased by gang members after he steals a suitcase of money, are told interspersed with his life story as he travels the world inadvertently influencing global events. Told as a sequence of events without much in the way of characterisation or description which meant I didn't find the characters sympathetic, making what should be an interesting and funny story a bit boring.
I hope the next readers enjoy it more!
