Thank you so much!!! What a nice surprise to find waiting for me in my mailbox today. :) Just one more book to get in this series and I can finally start reading them.

I really enjoy looking at covers from various countries, and this one is definitely a great one because it is so completely different from the covers of these books here in the U.S. The books here are marketed as young adult books, so they are brightly colored and the pictures make it clear that the characters are also young adults. This cover looks more like an "adult" book and just brings almost a different tone to the book, though the inside belies this "adult" tone by having the print be fairly large, as in many young adult books.

Book 1: Wild Magic
Book 2: Wolf-Speaker
Book 3: Emperor Mage

9 out of 10

A nice wrap-up to this quartet. And finally, the relationship that I was waiting for developed (names left out to contain spoilers). I wonder if there will be more information about them in the next Tortall series; I shall have to find out (fortunately, I have those books sitting on my TBR shelf). There was a little more sacrifice in this book compared to the rest, but still it did all seem to turn out a little too well in the end - but I was in the mood for a happy ending, so all is well.

Journal Entry 5 by WestofMars from Mars, Pennsylvania USA on Wednesday, March 09, 2005

Arrived yesterday with a bunch of Tamora Pierce books and other goodies. I am eager to read this series, as well as the other, because SandDanz wants them next. I'll be able to keep them moving together, at least to her, but beyond that... we'll have to see.

I think this series would have been better as a trilogy; while the character development required this fourth novel for completion, I felt as if I'd missed a book somewhere in terms of the plot. We are thrown immediately into the middle of the action and denied the set-up we'd grown familiar with during the first three books.

I've got this, along with the other three, saved for a friend...

Received with the rest of the series as a RABCK from SM! *hugs*

I was a HUGE fan of Tamora Pierce when I was younger although I never actually finished reading the Immortals series for some reason.

Looking forward to reading this series again!

Call me a cynic, but I really didn't like the development of the somewhat predictable relationship - I much preferred it as it was! I also found it hard to think that such a young girl could have acomplished so much. I guess that's fantasy for you though, and I remember when I was younger that I felt I could empathise with Daine. Overall, a good completion to the series with some interesting new characters and good development of old characters.

7 out of 10

I enjoyed this, but I have to say that I felt like the romantic aspect of the relationship came out of nowhere. It's definitely my least favorite of this series, though I did still like it.
