time passed and the urge to read this book didn't come. Altought i have read some parts and the history was interesting, i'm not in the right mood to read this book now, nor do i have the patience. Anyway, I was just curious about it since I had read "The Rule of Four", and this was enough to have a better idea of the book's structure and contents..

O Hypnerotomachia Poliphili (1499) é um dos livros, impressos no Renascimento, mais enigmáticos de que se tem notícia. O título, uma tradução aproximada do grego, significa " A luta amorosa de Poliphilo num sonho".

A Hypnerotomachia é considerado um dos incunábulo (obra impressa que data da origem da imprensa) mais belos, juntamente com a Bíblia de Gutenberg. Um marco na história do 'design gráfico', pelo design tipográfico revolucionário de Aldus Manutius e a narrativa sequencial das ilustrações em xilogravura, por um ilustrador desconhecido.

A autoria do livro é desconhecida mas acredita-se que seria de Francesco Colonna e sabe-se que o livro foi editado, projetado e publicado por Aldus Manutius, o primeiro impressor profissional da Itália. Existem algumas pistas sobre a identidade do autor. Por exemplo: alinhadas, as letras iniciais de cada capítulo, na sua versão original, forma-se a frase "Poliam frater Franciscvs Colomno peramavit" que, traduzido do latim, significa "o irmão Francisco Colono amava Polia intensamente". Acredita-se que se trata do monge dominicano Francesco Colonna que, segundo os anais dominicanos, solicitou um empréstimo para ajudar na publicação de um livro por volta do ano 1500.

Este livro conta a história do jovem Poliphilo que, dentro de um sonho, procura por sua amada, a ninfa Polia. Para alcançar seu destino, ele precisa passar por misteriosas florestas, cidades e labirintos, presenciando todo tipo de cenas bizarra e deparando-se com deuses, ninfas e outros seres mitológicos.

O livro torna-se muito complicado de ler porque narra simultâneamente sonhos, pesadelos, aventuras, cenas eróticas, tudo intercalado com comentários sobre arquitectura, música, literatura, etc. e, às tantas, eu já estava toda baralhada.
Adorei, acima de tudo, as ilustrações e gostava de ver a versão original.

Vai voltar para a Dangerouswoman a quem eu agradeço muito a organização deste ring.
