Biology for dummies.
I'm going to pass on this book to Savotar, because it says on her wish list she is looking for books of humour in English. Hope this is the kind of humour she is looking for!

Thank you harmaja! This is very down-to-earth humour, very much so... I read it in Suomenlinna at night and had a good, maybe a bit shocked laugh at the end. My husband found it even funnier.
So now the book is available for the next reader.

I took the book from the meet-up.
I did read this book a while ago and liked it quite lot. I have liked The Far Side and this was as funny as that.
VariC has shown some interest towards this book so I'll pass it to him.

I really liked this cartoon, the story is nice and I find the drawings hilarious, all the little details in the pictures. :D Nature is cruel, and all that seems pretty is not so...
Book continues it way later today, Rakuna had left it to me to be carried to VariC.

Thanks a lot, Rakuna! This was a total surprise for me. I'm a die-hard fan of the Far Side, but I'd never read this one.
I managed to read it already on the subway home. Very Larsonian, with the animals in the background having all sorts of human-like behavior, and the whole book being basically a story of how animals devour each other and how humans aren't really at the top of the animal kingdom. Not really as funny as the Far Side at its best, but then again, few things are. And the final page is great!
This is maybe more in-your-face biology than the Far Side. Here, everything is laid out explicitly, whereas in the Far Side you have to know some biology (or other suitable science) to even see there's a joke there. On the other hand, the biology here goes, in my opinion, deeper than in a typical Far Side panel, so maybe it's better this way.

Took this from the Helsinki area bc meetup because I have always loved he Far Side.
I really liked this! Loved the story and especially the last few pages. The biology here was definitely in-your-face but it didn't matter. I usually don't like books that are trying to be too educational but here the humour was great so it didn't matter. I've been a big fan of the Far Side for ages so I guess it's no wonder I loved this book as well.

I also know the Far Side humour and quite like that so of course I grabbed this book quickly for me in the Oulu bc meet-up today.

I wonder if I from now on think more carefully what to really think when I enjoy the wonders of nature, such as birdsong and meadow flowers. :)
The story was charming in its' own bitter way. The smallest is seldom the weakest.
I think my hubby is eager to read this story next so I will give the book to him.

Book was better than I expected. Ending was quite unexpected, I liked it a lot. A little cruel story about world around us. Details were funny, the ones you didn't notice at first look.
