Anita Blake rocks!

=========================

Featuring Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, the novels of New York Times bestselling author Laurell K. Hamilton introduce readers to a world of supernatural pleasure--and pain. When a powerful, centuries-old vampire hits town, a battle of the undead ensues, with the soul of the city--and Anita's life--at stake...

"So I was afraid; so what?
I had to go, and the sooner I left, the sooner I could come home. If only I believed that Jean-Claude would make things that simple. Nothing was ever simple where he was concerned. If I learned anything about the murders tonight, I'd pay for it, but not in money. Jean-Claude seemed to have plenty of that. No, his coin was more painful, more intimate, more bloody."

Starting a BookRing for the first 4 books in the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series. See the forum posting at http://www.bookcrossing.com/forum/20/1318548 for details and links to the offered titles.

PM me if you'd like to join. Be sure to specify which rings you want to join since each book will be shipped separately, as well as your shipping preferences. If you're joining the ring after it's already begun shipping, know that your place in the list will be determined based on your geographic location in conjunction with what is best for the other participants.

Note that while I'll certainly take your shipping preferences into account during list ordering, I don't like to always stick the same person with International shipping costs. So if you're going to participate in the rings for the entire series, at least 10 of which will be International rings, you should plan to have to ship Internationally at least once, unless there are enough others to pass the cost around to.

Ring Participants (last modified 16-Nov-2006)
· NeedSun, Ontario, Canada (ship Intl)
· Aramena (formerly casseytara), Oklahoma, USA (ship Intl)
· geniedances, Texas, USA (ship Intl)
· morpha, Oregon, USA (ship Intl)
· sweetf, UK (ship Intl/surface)
· gypsyrose02, Western Australia (ship Intl/pref Aussie)
· Rhenium3, Czech Republic (ship pref Europe, else okay)
· Sunneschii, Switzerland (ship Europe) asked to be skipped
· Margih, Finland (ship Europe)
· CandyDarling, Finland (ship Intl)
· jessicaloveyou, Singapore (ship Intl)
· GateGypsy, BC, Canada (ship Intl)
· fungirl503, OR, USA (ship Intl) acquired her own copy
· thegoaliegirl, OH, USA (ship pref US) acquired her own copy
· MaryZee, MD, USA (ship Intl)
· Withoutwings, FL, USA (ship Intl) acquired her own copy
· CheriePie, Massachusetts, USA <== back home with me
  • The above list order may be modified at any time to accomodate new participants or those who wish to leave the ring. So you should always refer to the list included in this journal entry before mailing the book out after you've finished with it.
  • After messaging the next person in the list for their address, you should allow at least a week for a reply (to allow for vacations). You may want to send more than one PM if they don't reply to the first one since I've experienced firsthand issues of BookCrossing PM's not being delivered. In Search Of (ISO) posts in the Bookring Forum also work well. If they haven't replied after 1 to 1-1/2 weeks, skip them and move on to the next person in the list.
  • Please post a journal entry here (1) when you first receive the book so we all know it has arrived safely, and (2) after you've finished reading it and are ready to send it along. Of course, please include your thoughts and opinions on the book itself too. :)
  • For courtesy sake, please try not to hang on to this book for more than 4-6 weeks as others are also waiting to read it. If you don't think you can get to the book in that timeframe, you can request to be skipped over and added to the end of the ring instead. Just use your best judgement so as not to hold up the ring.
  • Remember that at the end of the list, THIS BOOK SHOULD BE RETURNED TO ME, not released into the wild. I enjoy rereading my favorite books over time, and lend them out to other people in my life too, who are not necessarily members of BookCrossing.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING
Do not assume that surface shipping is always the most efficient choice. For many International destinations from the US, a single paperback can be shipped in a small Global Priority Mail (GPM) envelope for only $5, about $1 more than surface mail to the same destination. And rather than the 4-6 weeks quoted shipping time of surface mail (often longer), GPM takes only 3-5 days and includes a delivery confirmation number too. I strongly suggest that anyone joining any of my rings consider this shipping option when mailing overseas from the US. The minute any one of my PC books gets lost in shipping is the day I'll stop offering bookrings for my PC books altogether.

I'll specifically arrange the ring order so that the inital overseas journey from the US goes to a country that accepts the Global Priority Mail option, and if you're the one responsible for that trip, you'll probably be hearing from me directly as well. The list is ordered most efficiently, to minimize both shipping costs and times.

THANKS AND HAPPY READING!

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

RELEASE NOTES:

Delivered this to NeedSun while meeting up with her in person at Niagara Falls, Canada.

This bookring isn't quite ready to start yet as I need the previous book to get a little further along, however I figured I'd get this one and #4 to NeedSun now to read whenever she wants to, and then I'll let her know when to start the ring. The shipping order for this one should be pretty much set now unless someone drops out or anyone else joins.

UPDATE 18-JUL-2005
Due to a comedy of errors, NeedSun and I didn't hook up that day. Therefore, this box of books is being mailed out to her via UPS Standard on 19-Jul-2005.
UPS Tracking number: 1Z 3TF 086 68 9994 4080.

Journal Entry 4 by NeedSun from Perth Road, Ontario Canada on Tuesday, July 26, 2005
This book arrived last week in the package with the others. Sorry that I missed journalizing it! It is calling me as is the other one in this series. I know I have so many books to read before these but I may have to cheat a little and move these up before some series.

Journal Entry 5 by NeedSun from Perth Road, Ontario Canada on Thursday, September 29, 2005
Anita Blake.. what can I say.... I loved this book so much that as soon as I finished it, I grabbed number 4 and read through the night to finish it as well.

I read a short story in Cravings, I think, which was written much later in the series than this one. I am dying to find out how she got from here to there, if you know what I mean.

Cherie, thank you so much for introducing me to such an interesting world and a fascinating heroine. I am just waiting for Aramena's address to get it in the mail to her.

Sent to Aramena by surface mail on Oct 1

Yay, I'm so excited to get this! I'm in the middle of another book and the beginning of two other books, but I probably will not wait to start this one as I've been looking forward to it!

Journal Entry 7 by wingAramenawing from Noble, Oklahoma USA on Friday, October 28, 2005
I finished this one last night and enjoyed it as much as the others. I'm definitely hooked on the series now! I was glad to see a little more about Edward, his personality is slowly beginning to show through, and I hope he will continue to be involved in Anita's life.

I'm mailing the book to geniedances today, and eagerly look forward to Book 4!

Journal Entry 8 by geniedances from Houston, Texas USA on Saturday, November 5, 2005
I've almost finished this one. Started it yesterday and will finish it tonight. A real page turner, it keeps you guessing about what is going to happen next. I like her co-workers in "The Spook Squad", Dolph and Zerbrowski. Ther's also the question, what devious plot will Jean-Claude think up next? We know he hasn't given up the idea of Anita's becoming his human servant. I'm hooked on this series! Can't wait to see how all these characters continue to evolve. I will contact the next BCer on the list, Midwinter and get this book back on the move soon.

Journal Entry 9 by morpha from Astoria, Oregon USA on Wednesday, November 16, 2005
Just arrived in the mail today. No other bookrings ahead of this, I should be finished with this book by the end of the weekend.

Journal Entry 10 by morpha from Astoria, Oregon USA on Wednesday, November 23, 2005
A vivid piece of brain candy, but watch out! This candy will bleed when you bite it and it may bite back! I devoured the book in less than 24 hours and managed to survive the experience. Can't wait for the next installment in the series!

Sending across the pond to the next reader.

Journal Entry 11 by sweetf from Bridgwater, Somerset United Kingdom on Wednesday, November 30, 2005
Received this in the post at the weekend. Couldn't wait until I had received the second one to start so I read this yesterday. Another highly entertaining plot, if a little predictable. After a little confusion on my part I have sent this to gypsyrose today, sorry for the delay.

Cheers

Journal Entry 18 by Margih from Tampere, Pirkanmaa / Birkaland Finland on Wednesday, August 30, 2006
Finished the book couple of days ago and took it to the post office today so it´ll be waiting for CandyDarling80 tomorrow when she´ll arrive from L.A. (if I don´t remember her arrival date wrong)

Loved the book again, of course. Anita is coming more familiar every time and I can´t wait what will happen in the next book. I´m really hooked! Thanks CheriePie :)

Journal Entry 19 by CandyDarling from Helsinki, Uusimaa / Nyland Finland on Saturday, September 2, 2006
The book was waiting for me when I got back from my trip to L.A. Yay, I can't wait to read it!

Journal Entry 20 by CandyDarling from Helsinki, Uusimaa / Nyland Finland on Wednesday, September 6, 2006
This was the first Anita Blake book that didn't annoy me at all, thus the full 10 stars. I'm completely hooked on the series, and it's killing me that I have to wait again until I can read the 4th book...

I was glad to see Edward back in action, and Jean-Claude annoyed me much less than in the previous books! I'm actually starting to like him a little bit. ;) The was an abundance of violence, but I enjoyed it. Never thought I'd get a kick out of reading about somebody pulling out the spine of somebody else with their bare hands... I'm also interested in seeing what happens to Larry, he was a nice addition. I think I will have to buy these books for my personal collection...

Journal Entry 21 by CandyDarling from Helsinki, Uusimaa / Nyland Finland on Monday, September 11, 2006
Sent the book to GateGypsy today by surface mail, because air mail would have been more than double the price. I'm hoping it doesn't take very long to cross the ocean this time!

Journal Entry 22 by GateGypsy from Ladysmith, British Columbia Canada on Tuesday, November 28, 2006
arrived in the mail today. Had originally been shipped to my British Columbia address, but about 2 months ago I had a major life change occur in about the space of a week and jumped provinces. I suspect that this book as been waiting patiently in a stack of "things to send to my daughter" on my mother's table for much of that time, but it's here now! Thank you for your patience, everyone. I've got a couple other bookrings ahead of it (there were 6 books in the box she sent me, and two rings already in the house here -- don't worry not all of them are ring books!) so I'll get to this ASAP.

Really looking forward to it, I quite enjoyed the last!

***************************************************************************

Okay, so I broke down and decided to read this one first instead of the book that arrived ahead of it. I had fun with this. (These are great books to read during breaks at work 'cause the chapters are fast and dirty, y'know?) I'm a little disappointed with the whole vampire marks part of the storyline -- I wasn't terribly convinced by it -- and I sorta guessed what was going to happen at the end. Not all of it. I was still surprised by a thing or two. **smiles** I still enjoyed it, though. I'm looking forward to reading all of these. It's such a treat to be part of this whole string of people getting a long line of books.

I've already got the addy of the next in line, so I will ship it off this week 'cause I get paid on Friday.

Thanks again for sharing!

Just received this. Thanks GateGypsy. I'm currently reading 2 books, and as soon as I finish one, I'll get started on this one - probably later this week.

2/10/07 update - I'm reading this now, and am about 1/3 finished.

Journal Entry 25 by wingmaryzeewing from Taneytown, Maryland USA on Tuesday, February 13, 2007
As always, a quick, enjoyable read. LKH has the most incredible imagination - how does she come up with all these creatures? And Anita is quite a tough chick. I'm definitely looking forward to more of her adventures.

This is #8 for the 2007 Keep Them Moving Challenge. Sent back to CheriePie, Saturday, 2/17.

Journal Entry 26 by CheriePie from Campbell, California USA on Thursday, February 22, 2007
This arrived back home with me the other day! yay!! It's had a long, fun journey around the world, and I love looking back on everyone's thoughts and such. I just *love* these early Anita books, and even though I may not have a chance to read them again myself anytime soon, I've got a few non-bookcrossing friends I'd like to introduce to the series as well, so it's good to know they're always here and available for lending and getting others hooked on Anita too!!

Thank you all for enjoying my rings, and taking care of my baby as it made it's worldly travels! LOL *sm0000ches* x0x0x0x0x
