First in a series of 15 books. To see a list of the books in this series, go here.

From the back cover:

Something is happening to me that I don't understand.

I see things, feel things in a new way. I can do things normal people can't do. Powerful things. Magickal things. It scares me.

I never chose to learn witchcraft. But I'm wondering if witchcraft is choosing me.

10 out of 10

The first book in the series is almost like any teen novel, except that it deals with witchcraft. The whole series is very addictive, definitely among the better teen series. Anyone wanting to learn about Wicca should know that the author has mixed a lot of her own ideas in this book, and the witchcraft presented here is not an accurate portrait of Wicca. But that didn't bother me, I liked the author's version of witchcraft. The main character, Morgan, is very likeable. As the plot develops, the reader becomes as confused as Morgan, because she really doesn't know who she can trust anymore.

Safely arrived in The Netherlands, thanks CandyDarling! I have a couple of other books to read first, but will read this one within a month.

A quick and easy read. I think teens will like the book and will recognise things as wanting to belong to a social group, having different views than your parents about life, religion and quarreling over it, feeling different and left out. I found the book too ‘girlie’: chattering about boys and clothes. The story is predictable and the characters are rather shallow. I have read better teen books than this one. But I liked it anyway. Made me want to read more about Wicca.

Thanks CandyDarling for sharing! Book is off to Auglaise.

"Well... I'm curious about it," I said in a measured tone, not wanting to blurt out all my messy feelings. "I'm Catholic and everything, like my parents," I went on in a rush. "But I do think Wicca is... interesting."
"Like anything else, it's what you bring to it," Paula said.

An enjoyable, slim little book, if a little facile; I'd have preferred it if the author had tried to lend a little more substance to both the characters and plot.

Still I'm interested in seeing where this series goes next.

I've PM'd Lpree and waiting on an address.

Thank you for including me on this ring!

Oh wow, I read this in one sitting - I just couldn't put it down! I really enjoyed the story, though I agree with the comments about too much on the boys/clothes topics. I found the whole Wicca portions of it very fascinating.

I am certainly going to try and read the rest of the series. I will PM the next person in line and hope to mail this out sometime this week.

Thanks very much to CandyDarling for introducing me to this series!

I'm sorry for stepping in at this point, but I just wanted to let everybody know that I have all the books in this series, and I'm willing to send them out on rings. I'll pm you all after I have registered them, and ask if you are still interested in participating.

Oh, and the rest of the series has more magic and less "boys/clothes" in it!

I really liked this! Now I want to know what happens next!

Cal sure seemed very mature for a high school kid.... I would have had a crush on him too. :)

I can see everyone's point about there being a lot about clothes and boys in the story, but it really seemed appropriate to me. I'm assuming this series follows Morgan's transformation from a fairly normal school girl into a more young adult Wiccan woman, and the clothes and the boys were right in tune with my memories of being a normal high schooler. But maybe I just think that because the high school described in the story seemed so much like my high school did! That's not too surprising since the story's set around where I went to high school and college, so that was a little added bit of fun for me too.

But I am glad to hear the series gets more into the Wicca apects of the story--I agree, those are definitely the best parts!

I have PMed grover3d, and will mail this out as soon as I get an address! Thanks for including me in this ring!

Because I haven't anything from grover3d concerning the status of this book, I have restarted the bookring with another copy. This time I'm mailing it together with its sequel. Here are the links to the replacement books:
