I'm horrified that it's taken me so long to get round to reading this, but it was well worth the wait!

In 1992, in peaceful Southern Sweden, a young housewife, pillar of the Methodist church, disappears and is later found murdered, execution style. Inspector Kurt Wallander and his team are called in to investigate. It is a case with its roots far away, in Apartheid South Africa.

Because of having been brought up in Africa myself (Malawi), I always find books with an African connection have a special appeal, so this was a winner all round. I hadn't realised before, that Henning Mankell now lives in Africa and has written "non Wallender" novels set in Africa. I must investigate further.
