Journal Entry 1 by WintersQT4ever from Ypsilanti, Michigan USA on Thursday, August 19, 2004
Description: In Coraline's family's new flat are twenty-one windows and fourteen doors open and close. The fouteenth is locked, and on the other side is only a brick wall, until the day Coraline unlocks the door to find a passage to another flat in another house just like her own. Only it's different... At first, things seem marvelous in the other flat. The food is better. The toy box is filled with wind up angels that flutter around the bedroom, books whose pictures writhe and crawl and shimmer, little dinosaur skulls that chatter there teeth. But there's another mother, and another father, and they want Corlaine to stay with them and be there little girl. They want to change her and never let go. Other children are trapped there as well, lost souls behind mirrors. Coraline is there only hope of rescue. She will have to fight with all her wits and all the tools she can find if she is to save the lost children, her ordinary life, and herself. Critically acclaimed and award-winning author Neil Gaiman will delight readers with his first novel for all ages.

Ok, I decided to make this book into a bookring, it is already closed though it will go in this order:

1. SandDanz
2. Stensler
3. JustJen
4. Lpree
5. aspyngirl
6. AngelfireStar
7. Then back to me.

I have room for one more though so if you desperatly want to read it just send a little note and I'll try and add you to the end.

Rules
1. I will make a list in order of who can ship where.

2. Each person can have the book for month, it's okay if its a little over,
if you don't read it in that time send it on and ask me(WintersQT4ever) to
have it sent again at the end.

3. Make sure to journal on bookcrossing when you get the book and after you
read it what you thought of it.

4. If the book gets lost or misplaced please replace the book with either a
copy of it or $15.99 in US dollars.

I know the fourth rule is a little different because its this book is my permanent collection copy and I would like to be able to read it again someday. So if someone loses it im sorry you have to replace it, this includes me sending messages until I get a reply.

Received this bookring book in the mail today.

I have 1 1/2 bookring books in front of it, but I may start it alongside one of them since it looks like an easy read. I'll journal again once I finish to state my opinion of the book.

You can check my status on what I'm reading and when I started reading it in my profile.

Journal Entry 5 by SandDanz from Louisville, Kentucky USA on Monday, August 30, 2004
I just completed the book and will be sending it on to Stensler in the next couple of days. I leave town Thursday evening so it will be sent before Friday.

I thought it was a good book, but it wasn't as great as I had been hoping for. I know it's a "children's book", but I was hoping that it would seem a little more scary to me. I did really enjoy the illustrations in the book, especially the cover! The story is very good and I think is great for kids that want to try a touch of horror!

Thanks for having the ring so that I could have the chance to read this WintersQT4ever! :)

Journal Entry 6 by WintersQT4ever from Ypsilanti, Michigan USA on Tuesday, August 31, 2004
I'm glad you sort of liked it. I'll be expecting to hear from Stensler soon saying that they got it in a post.

Good, this book is moving along very well. If it continues going this quick I may have it back before the end of November. Hurray! lol. I hope everyone likes it.

Journal Entry 10 by Stensler from Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA on Monday, September 20, 2004
Wow! What a great book, and a children’s book no less. I am not one who normally reads books geared towards young adults, but I love Neil Gaiman. I couldn't put this down once I started reading it. It was truly suspenseful and I found myself genuinely scared in a few parts.

I especially like the bit about people calling her Caroline no matter how many times she corrected them.

Going to mail this off to the next person as soon as they send me their address.

Thank you Winters :)

Finished reading and will send on to Lpree.

Thought it to be just ok. Not as good as I thought it would be. Guess I was expecting a more scary story.

It was good quick read though. Thanks for sharing.

Journal Entry 15 by WintersQT4ever from Ypsilanti, Michigan USA on Tuesday, October 5, 2004
That was sorta of my first thought when i finished the book too. But it turned out pretty good.

Journal Entry 16 by Lpree from Omaha, Nebraska USA on Saturday, October 16, 2004
This arrived in today's mail. I have some other bookrings ahead of it but will read as quickly as I can. Please check my profile to see where I am in my reading list as well as an expected finish date for this book. I am really looking forward to reading this!

Journal Entry 17 by Lpree from Omaha, Nebraska USA on Thursday, October 28, 2004
Wow, this was a quick read! Once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down. Luckily, dinner didn't require too much attention. :)

My husband read it first while I was finishing off other bookrings ahead of this. His comments: "My thoughts... hm. Not much. It's just a short, entertaining book. A kind of twisted fairy tale. Entertaining, with some nice moments of suspense and dread. "

I really enjoyed the book. It was a very bizarre book, but certainly very entertaining. For some reason, this book reminded me some of Edmund Gorey's works. I'm not sure why - Gorey just came to mind after I finished reading it last night.

Anyway, I've PM'd aspyngirl for her address and hope to mail it out early next week. Thanks very much to WintersQT4ever for the opportunity to read this!

Journal Entry 21 by aspyngirl from Richmond, Missouri USA on Thursday, November 11, 2004
Okay, that was unnecessarily creepy. It seems Mr. Gaiman has crafted the perfect fairy tale for Tim Burton to adapt to movie. Tim Burton's stories are always dark and creepy too. Of course, it does have a bit of charm and mystery to it, which is what kept me reading it until long past my bedtime today. Still I finished the book with an erie sense of unsettled fear. Somewhere in my heart, mind or soul, all is not right with Coraline...even though the mice are playing their circus music.

Journal Entry 22 by aspyngirl from Richmond, Missouri USA on Wednesday, January 26, 2005
Apparently this book never made it home. Since I've lost the first copy of this book, I have agreed to pay for a new copy. I really don't understand what's happened to it, but I am correcting it.

Please accept my apologies for holding up this bookring...I had no idea I was holding it up!

Journal Entry 23 by WintersQT4ever from Ypsilanti, Michigan USA on Monday, February 28, 2005
The book came back home today and the postmark said 2/24/05, this is the original copy. I don't understand what the problem was except it was a couple months late. It was supposed to go to AngelfireStar first but I guess that failed. I will have to let her know.

rather liked it but, as I am not a kid anymore I suppose it was a lil less scary than it could have been. Still there were those signature touches of Gaiman that I loved! I know this is kinda random, but I found the part with the hairless bat/puppies disturbing. I suppose my mind did a lil too good a job conjuring the image. ^_^

sending on as part of a relay.
