The Magician's Assistant
4 journalers for this copy...
When Parsifal, a handsome and charming magician, dies suddenly, his widow Sabine - who was also his faithful assistant for twenty years-learns that the family he claimed to have lost in a tragic accident is very much alive and well. Sabine is left to unravel his secrets, and the adventure she embarks upon, from sunny Los Angeles to the bitter windswept plains of Nebraska, will work its own magic on her. Sabine's extraordinary tale will capture the heart of its readers just as Sabine herself is captured by her quest.

I got this book today (sorry, I just got in from out of town), but I will start on it right away! Thanks!
Oh, this was really wonderful. I can't even put my finger on it exactly. All I know is that despite the banality of the setting and situation (Nebraska, family issues, yada yada yada), every sentence was breathtaking and everything that happened seemed as far from banal as it could possibly be. My favorite parts were Sabine's dreams, but I enjoyed it all.
This is going out today to andersor.
Never fear! The book arrived in today's mail. I just finished what I was reading, so I'll start tonight!!! Thanks for sharing.
Not at all what I expected, but a very enjoyable book. I have been a bit under the weather, so I finished it in record time :)
Judester sent me the address for the next person in line, so I will mail it off tomorrow.

GREAT author, mediocre story, she definitely gets better with each book she writes. Patchett carries you with her at times against your will. I love that about her. Sending on to gofishbooks.
