Journal Entry 1 by Ladyjanet from Normal, Illinois USA on Monday, August 16, 2004
This book was one of those that you can't put down even if you know what's going to happen. It takes place in the few days before and during the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 CE. I can see this book being made into either a really great movie, or someone making it a really bad movie. This was passed to me by adasmama, and now it's into the wild!

Journal Entry 4 by wizardsheart from Niles, Michigan USA on Thursday, September 30, 2004
I finished this book a day or two ago. I have read another of Robert Harris books. I enjoy them. He has decent characters and a nice style of writing. The plot is always so promsing....But it just doesnt grab me. I was disappointed in this book but very very grateful that LadyJanet traded me for it! Even though I was disappointed in it, I was grateful to have read it. I have two more of his books and I will read them. I am making a little care package for nyla7. I think that I am going to pop this book in there!

I liked this book, but it wasn't the fantastic read I was expecting. It really grew on me though, and once the eruption started naturally I was engrossed. I might pass this on to a friend, or I might wild release it. Will update this entry when I do.
