I picked this up in a charity shop and thought I'd give it a go. I don't often read fantasy novels but a couple of friends recommended this author. Watch this space.

Well, this wasn't really my thing. Although I did read to the end, this book didn't really make me want to read anything else by this author. Parts of the story were good, but I found a lot of it a bit cheesy. It got on my nerves the way the gaffer couldn't say a single sentence without having an endearment attached at the end. This just made me feel he was a caricature rather than a real person. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.
