Unfortunately, this is the third time in over two years that I have caught one of my own books. This poor thing was for sale at the local library, so I rescued it and brought it back home. It actually looks like a very good book and perhaps I can find it on someone's wishlist.
Postal release to E-mile in The Netherlands, to fulfill a wish.
And there Peter is!!!! Thanks a lot, Oldbroad, for sending me this book as a RABCK; it's a nice gift for Sinterklaas, which is this week (Sinterklaas is the Dutch equivalent of Santa Claus and he gives presents to all the Dutch children in the beginning of December).
I really appreciate that you've send it to me!!
I'll make a new journal entry when I've read the book!

I'll make a new journal entry when I've read the book!
I've just finished reading the book and I loved it! It's a simple read but the coming-out story touched me and brought back a lot of memories about my own coming-out; about feeling different in a group without knowing why; liking girls but not in 'that' way and the moment you realise what makes all those differences: you're gay (for me that moment was when my soon-to-be first-boyfriend put his head on my chest and both our hearts started beating like mad.....). Wonderfull that this book brought back a lot of good memories!
Thanks again, Oldbroad, for sending me this book; I enjoyed it a lot!!
The book will be a (mini)Ring:
* Frakke-Per
* Piiaksi <-- Peter is here now....

* back to E-mile.

Have fun, Peter....
I didn't read the book in Castricum, but on the way to my next stop. A proper journal entry will follow later. Thank you for the not-so-light book, E-mile.
With some books, I use to confuse fiction and reality. Those books are usually called ‘realistic’, although they aren’t, of course, they are constructions (as is, according to some philosophers (not including me) reality). The book Peter is one of those books. It is about a fifteen year old boy who wonders a lot about homosexuality, without thinking about himself as gay. Peter lives in a society in which being gay is something very queer. The most humiliating swear words are connected with being gay and it is very unusual and suspect for two boys to go to the supermarket together. The reality of the book is a reality that probably exists, but fortunately, not near me. During the book, Peter discovers that he might be gay himself; he doesn’t like to be halfraped by a horrible girl and he likes to be hold by a nice lad. This makes him very upset and he wants to find out whether he really is, or not. That part made me rather sad, since it reflects the idea that many people have that sexual preferences/orientation is something fixed and a firm part of your identity. People, and among them Peter, would be better of if they could escape from the need to define themselves. Fortunately, the book also contains figures who are more relaxed about being gay or not or a just a bit than the teenager Peter. I enjoyed reading the book, especially the parts on biking and David (which were the largest parts) en I can forgive the author for explaining too much of the behaviour of the characters.
Thanks for ringing E-mile, the book will soon travel further.
