 An interesting report from Silicon Valley during the middle to latter half of the 90s. My favorite chapter is "The Dropout" about Danny Hillis and his Clock of the Long Now (mentioned here: http://tesugen.com/2002/07/27.html#theclockofthelongnow). I bought the book at a sale and didn't think it would be that interesting, but I couldn't put it down.
