Memoirs of a Geisha
5 journalers for this copy...
The book transports you totally into a now-vanished foreign world. While you read it, it's completely engrossing and drags you into the world of the Geisha. A novel that feels like a true story.

Turned up in my mailbox today, thanks e-i-pi! Shall read this, and pass it along asap.
A very good read, I think the author really captured the character of Chiyo/Sayuri. The detail was magnificent, and a very interesting companion read to Geisha of Gion.
The plot stretched incredulity a bit, but do we read fiction for the dreary detail of everydat life? I think not! It's the coincidences that make a great read.
I have fleebo's address already, so shall pop this in the post really soon now.

Forgot to journal when I received it from tqd... sorry about that. Haven't finished it but it will be moving along soon.
A lovely book. It felt very honest, right down to the heroine's delightfully non-standard metaphors peppering it right through. Still, I can't get more than the tiniest inkling of what it would have been like to actually live a life like a Gion geisha. People may complain about modern times, but I'm glad to be here.
Thanks very much for sharing this.
Waiting on a posting address from jassy-m.

I've been wanting to read this for a long time, so when I saw that Fleebo had it I borrowed it fast. I'm not sure how true to life it really is, but it felt real and I really enjoyed it - right up until the ending, which didn't really ring true. Thanks Fleebo.
I can't get a response from Jassy-m, so I have PMed loopylou127 instead. It will soon be travelling again.
Updated 30th September:
Posting to Jassy-m after all. Enjoy!

Arrived in the mail today. Good timing too, as I just finished a book, and was wondering what else I could read!
