Journal Entry 1 by Eucalia from Issaquah, Washington USA on Saturday, October 2, 2004
I bought this book from a Friends of the Library book sale in Rocklin, California. It seemed like everyone has read this book but me, so I decided to give it a go. I'm glad I did, because although this book left me crying when I came to its obvious conclusion, it really left me feeling good and it made me pause to think a lot about my life and what's important and what's not--something we all need to do now and then! My official review can be found here on the Book Blog.

I'd like to share this book with anyone else who hasn't had the opportunity to read it yet (or who just wants to read it again!), so I'm going to make it into a bookring.

Journal Entry 2 by Eucalia from Issaquah, Washington USA on Wednesday, October 6, 2004
This book is now part of a bookring!

This bookring is currently open. PM me if you'd like to join.
The following is the current list of members. The list is subject to change.

1. jarrett622 (VA) US/Can only
2. BeadedZebra (OK) int'l
3. jaenelle (KS) int'l
4. irenic (ON, Canada) int'l
5. brewster13 (MB, Canada) US/Can pref
6. Heaven150 (AB, Canada) int'l
7. robert-walker (UK) int'l
8. wavelength (Malaysia) int'l <--- it's on its way here!
9. tqd (Australia) Aus. pref

A bookring is when a book is sent from one person to another through a list of members who have signed up for it and eventually ends up safe and sound back home with the person who started the bookring—me!

Here are the guidelines for this bookring:

1. When the person before you on the list is done reading the book they will send you a personal message (PM) asking you for your address. If you feel that you are too busy at that time to read the book within a reasonable time period (about 1 month), ask that person to skip you and go to the next person on the list. If this happens, PM me to let me know what’s going on and, if you want, I may be able to move you down the list so you can try again later.

2. When you receive the book, make a journal entry letting everyone know where the book is. Keep in mind that there are other people waiting to read the book after you, so try not to take too long to read it. A general rule of thumb is to have the book in your possession for no longer than one month. If you know you won’t be able to get to the book within a month, pass it on to the next person on the list, PM me letting me know, and I can move you down the list so you can try again later if you’d like. If you’re reading the book and it’s taking you longer than expected to finish, make a journal entry letting everyone know! Remember, there’s no such thing as too many journal entries.

3. When you’re done (or almost done) reading the book, send a PM to the next person on the list asking for their address. Even if you think you already know that person’s address, it’s a good idea to double-check to make sure their address hasn’t changed—and also make sure the list order hasn’t changed since you checked it last. If the next person on the list doesn’t respond to your PM within several days, try again. If you still get no response within one week, PM me to let me know what’s going on and then skip this person and try the next person on the list.

4. After you’ve finished the book, journal a quick review of it for us letting us know what you thought of it!

5. Send the book to the next person on the list and post a journal entry letting everyone know it’s on its way. Sit back, relax, and watch the journals as the book completes its journey!

Picked this up at the PO this morning. I'm almost done with a ring book that is ahead of it and then I'll begin this book. Thanks, Eucalia!

Oct 21. I finished reading this on Sunday the 17th but due to an illness in the family I wasn't able to journal until now.

This was a wonderful book. A very quick read but you won't want to rush through this one. Take your time and savor the lessons to be learned.

This is in the top 5 list of best books read this year.

Will be sending on to BeadedZebra as soon as I have a mailing address.

Journal Entry 9 by jaenelle from Orlando, Florida USA on Wednesday, December 29, 2004
I didn't enjoy this book as much as some. I guess it felt a bit predictable to me. The "life lessons" are things we would all do well to remember, however. I hope the rest of the participants enjoy this book!

Journal Entry 10 by irenic from Hamilton, Ontario Canada on Wednesday, January 19, 2005

Journal Entry 11 by brewster13 from Calgary, Alberta Canada on Friday, February 11, 2005
This book arrived in the mail today, along with another bookring. You gotta' love getting 2 books in the mail in one day, especially just a few days before your birthday!! I look forward to reading this book once I finish Owen Meany.

Journal Entry 12 by irenic from Hamilton, Ontario Canada on Sunday, February 13, 2005
Just wanted to make this not "to be read" on my list.

Journal Entry 13 by brewster13 from Calgary, Alberta Canada on Friday, February 18, 2005
This was a short, easy read ... some nice moments here. It was nice to have the chance to read about Morrie Schwartz, who must've been a fabulous teacher. What a brave, caring and sharing man to share with us his last weeks alive enduring such an awful illness.

Will send off next week.

UPDATE: March 1. Sorry for the delay in getting this into the mail. I have it all wrapped up and will mail tomorrow, March 2.

Journal Entry 14 by Heaven150 from Edmonton, Alberta Canada on Tuesday, March 8, 2005
Received from brewster13 last night. Have started it already. Will post another journal entry with my thoughts when I'm finished reading.

Journal Entry 15 by Heaven150 from Edmonton, Alberta Canada on Wednesday, March 16, 2005
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Like Eucalia, it made me pause and think about my life and what's really important. It is a very quick read, and in fact I read it twice (I didn't want to miss anything). Thanks very much for sharing this wonderful book with us, Eucalia.

I mailed this one to robert-walker on March 14/05.

Journal Entry 16 by R-W from Rotherham, South Yorkshire United Kingdom on Thursday, March 24, 2005
This book fell upon my mat today. I've just started Soul Mountain which is 500+ pages, so give me a week or so and i will get to this next.
Thanks Heaven150 for mailing the book on.

Journal Entry 17 by R-W from Rotherham, South Yorkshire United Kingdom on Thursday, April 21, 2005
This book has been on a little trip with me, both of us are currently soaking up the sun in Spain.
I thought this book was an amazing read and it was nice to become acquainted with someone like Morrie.
I feel kind of sad though, i only read this book because of having read "The Five People You Meet In Heaven" also by Albom, sad because i think this is more my type of book and i wish i had come across it sooner.

Thanks to Eucalia for starting this ring, both the book and i will be back in the UK on friday so i will mail the book on a.s.a.p

Journal Entry 18 by R-W from Rotherham, South Yorkshire United Kingdom on Saturday, April 23, 2005
