TBR.

10-26-2004---Started this today and am enjoying.

11-07-2004---**Critic Warning**---
This book had been recommended to me by several of my trusted reader friends so it really must just be me. I thought the story became contrived and unbelievable. The main character had too much going on to be believed. It was too much fiction.

My husband got this in the mail for me yesterday off to Humberts-doll I believe. I am sorry I gave it a poor review because I know lots of others who have enjoyed it. Don't let what I say be your judgement.

Book Description: pub. 2004, pgs.500

"It is winter, 1553. Pursued by the Inquisition, Hannah Green, a fourteen-year-old Jewish girl, is forced to flee Spain with her father. But Hannah is no ordinary refugee. Her gift of 'Sight,' the ability to foresee the future, is priceless in the troubled times of the Tudor court. Hannah is adopted by the glamorous Robert Dudley, the charismatic son of King Edward's protector, who brings her to court as a 'holy fool' for Queen Mary and, ultimately, Queen Elizabeth. Hired as a fool but working as a spy; promised in wedlock but in love with her master; endangered by the laws against heresy, treason, and witchcraft, Hannah must choose between the safe life of a commoner and the dangerous intrigues of the royal family that are inextricably bound up in her own yearnings and desires.
"Teeming with vibrant period detail and peopled by characters seamlessly woven into the sweeping tapestry of history, 'The Queen's Fool' is another rich and emotionally resonant gem from this wonderful storyteller."

Arrived Fri. I enjoyed "The Other Boleyn Girl," and I'm eager to read a bit more by the same author. Thanks so much for sharing this with me.

11/18/04-
Started this yesterday. Am enjoying it so far and have decided to offer it as a Bookray when I'm finished.

11/20/04-
Finished the book today. I found myself drawn into all of the royal intrigue--the plotting, the spying, and so forth, even though I was aware of how it all had to end historically. And while I liked Hannah and thought she was a good narrator with a different perspective and her own secrets, I got a little impatient with her and Daniel. I just didn't like Daniel. But that aside, I thought it was a good read, though maybe not as easy to get into at first as "The Other Boleyn Girl." Thanks again to jennyscott for sharing this with me.

12/10/04--
Sadly, today I received in the mail the shreds of the package this book was in when I sent it out. It didn't even make it out of state, and I guess the book is now lost. My apologies to everyone on the bookray.

1/5/05--
Thanks to brownwhitetan and bookczuk, I now have a new copy, so the bookray can start again. The Queen's Fool, attempt #2

11/7/05--
Copy #2 also met an unfortunate end. A link to copy #3:
