* Aloitan tällaisen "nallekirjaringin". Tapasin Nalle Kirjasen lelukaupassa 19.7.2004. I measured our new friend. I give you the measures, so you can decide if you want to be part of this ring or not. Bookie's soft (no jointed legs or arms) and when he "stands", he's about 21.5 cm (8.46 inch) long. His thickness in the thickest part (head) is about 7 cm (2.76 inch). The hardback notebook he uses as a travel journal is the same size as most hardbacks, but its thickness is only about 1.2 cm (0.47 inch). Hänen paksuutensa paksuimmasta kohdasta (päästä) mitattuna on n. 7 cm. Hänen matkapäiväkirjansa on tavallisen kirjan kokoinen kovakantinen muistikirja, paksuudeltaan osapuilleen 1.2 cm. Here are the instructions for the participants. Please, read them: * Tässä on ohjeet osallistujille. Ole kiltti ja lue ne: 1. When Bookie the Bear arrives, please help him out of the envelope. :) Then check the BCID number from the journal he travels with. Let us all know that our friend is your guest now, so we won't be worried. * 1. 2. Help the bear to tell about his journey in the diary. I'm sure he would especially love to attach some photographs in the journal if you have possibility to take pictures. :) He would also love to take part in a local BC meeting. You can also put photos in your BC journal entries here if you like. * 2. 3. When you think the bear wishes to continue his journey, PM the next person and ask her/his address. Then send the bear and his travel journal to next "host". :) The last member will send the bear and the bear's journal to me. * 3. Have fun with Bookie! :) * Pitäkää hauskaa Kirjasen kanssa! :) The participants: * Ringin osallistujat: 1. kirjanen saapui helsinkiin paikallista aikaa 00.25 ja tarvitsee runsaasti lepoa, lisää siis myöhemmin. :) 14.9.04 Dear Diary, I have been in Helsinki for a couple of weeks and all I have been able to do is to sleep. (I have no idea how anyone can travel without getting fatigue!) So in other words Paula's(=paulainen) bed has been on duty 24-7! Today I was feeling a bit perkier and after eating some honey I almost couldn't keep my feet on the ground. Luckily Paula had her inaguration party and she promised to take me along. It was a BLAST! Paula and the other freshmen (and women!) were to do multiple tasks. (BTW! They were tied to each other from their wrists the whole time :) ) They had to bribe tutors in order to get higher points, collect as many balloons as they could in 15 minutes and recognize different beer qualities from one another. They also had to trade an uncooked egg and Paula had to stop a car wearing a red overal and ask the driver whether they had seen her table tennis ball (for she had to carry a racket, too) The evening culminaed into a party where all the groups got to perform their play assigned to them. I laughed my ears off and in addition I also found some relatives of mine! (They were quite empty from the inside: it's the modern society!) Thanks Paula for an evening hign in merriment, I'm off to rest! (The picture is of me and my long lost relatives:Karhu, Karhu & Karhu (fin. karhu = eng. bear)) 9.11.04 It's time for Bookie to continue his journey, hope he liked his stay! Travel safe and hit me sometimes with a postcard! :D Kirjasen on aika jatkaa matkailuaan, toivottavasti hän nautti olostaan luonani. Matkustele varovasti äläkä unohda minua! :D |

Yes! At last something is going to be written. Kity has not answered yet and if not we'll be seeing Candy Darling after Midsummer. I think it is time I moved over to one of those two. Well, I took a big boat to Stockholm. Is is a wonder those big boats of the size of a block of flats can get through between the innumerous islands which lies in front of Stockholm. Through the window you can see Gröna Lund, the famous Amusement Park in Stockholm. |

I went to visit Celia - Library for the Visually Impaired. It was more fun than I expected: They have a corner called Little Celia where one of the librarians have fairy tale performances for visiting groups of visually impaired children. That's why they also have many tactile picture books there. The rest of the tactile picture books are always on the run, they are not allowed to stay on the library shelves as there are too few of them. Would you be satisfied if you could get only one book at a time when visiting your library? No? Not me either. But as there are about as many tactile picture books as there are children waiting for them, each child can have only one book at a time. If he is lucky he can sometimes get two. At the Library I met many distant relatives like Winnie the Pooh, The Floating Teddy and others. It is nice that the visually impaired children can meet them, too! |

After hibernating for some months I was woken up to follow my hostess to International Children's Book Fair in Bologna, Italy. I participated in a panel discussion for children's books or rather I only listened to as others spoke |
