Journal Entry 1 by STORMYBREEZE from Elk City, Oklahoma USA on Sunday, July 18, 2004
A story told by the wife and four daughters of Nathan Price,a fierce, evangelical Baptist who takes his family and mission to the Belgian Congo in 1959. They carry everything with them that they believe they will need with them from home, but soon find out that all of it from garden seeds to Scriptures is calamitously transformed on African soil. What follows is a suspenful epic of one family's tragic undoing and remarkable reconstruction over the courseof three decades in postcolonial Africa. Book is in very good condition. Breezy

I really loved The Bean Trees. I am looking forward to reading this. It's quickly becoming a staple of the World Lit./AP English curriculum.

Read my review. I will make this book available to others, but I want to purchase my own copy for a permanent place on my bookshelf. Something tells me I'll be teaching it sooner or later.
