Every year the Summer School in St. Andrews brings together people with a passion for Scottish Country Dancing. This year all is going well and even the weather is good!

But when murder takes place, all hell breaks loose. A disappearing kilt, a glimpsed dress, a will, jealousy and lies conspire to confuse the participants, among whom there are as many suspects as investigators.

An intrigue "in camera" which combines passion with a dash of insolence... and the world of the Summer School.

Murder and Dancers. A fictional story - an existing place: the yearly "Summer School" for "Scottish Country Dancing" in St. Andrews, Schottland.

Been there - Done it?

Written by dancers of the Summer School, you can get a lot of the atmosphere.

The story itself is not that strong but nice.
I bought and read it during Summer School. Strange feeling - but no copycat - thank godness ;-)

I gave to book to a friend and dancer who will be there this year.

Für mich als Insiderin kommen gute Erinnerungen hoch an die Summer School in St. Andrews, wo dieser Krimi sich abspielt. Absolut empfehlenswert v.a. für schottische TänzerInnen. ;)

A few years ago my husband and I went to Schottland for our hollidays. As we visited Inverness we went to a pub one night. And there were two young women an a little group an musicans, and they tought Schottish country dancing. There were some young Australiens, too, searching for their roots in Schottland. They were all wearing kils. It was a very impressing evening.

Thats why I was very interessted to read this book. But my knowledge of the language is not very well. And I didn´t got right into the story. And to read in English needs much more time than in german. So I send this little book to the next person in the ring.

Oh, peinlich, das Buch ist schon seit einer Woche hier bei mir... Habe leider vergessen es sofort einzutragen.
Freue mich schon darauf, es zu lesen!

Ich habe das Buch gern gelesen, das Englisch ist nicht allzu schwer. Vom Inhalt her war es auch für mich als "Nicht-Schottische-Tänzerin" interessant zu lesen!
Das Buch geht voraussichtlich erstmal an KYH zrück, da sich Audrey nicht auf meine PM gemeldet hat.

Nice story! I'm not a "Scottish Dancer" and so haven't been to this Summer School, but I can imagine what the must be like there.
But the view on the organisating RSCDS isn't really a positive one. Hope the authors didn't get any problems ;-)

Nice! I was quite surprised to find a rather self-made looking book in the envelope. All these intrigues felt a bit like a put-off on scottish-dancing summer school, but then, there is no chance of me being a member of the management team. Maybe I'll go to summer school in one of the next summers, then I'll take care to stand away from the organizers ;-)

Sometimes the book felt a bit old-fashioned, but style and story were as good as many crime-stories published by big companies.

Well, I finished the book yesterday.

I'm not really into Scottish Dancing, but since I'm a piper I knew most of the terms without needing the glossary.
This is a sound crime story, I think. Nothing really thrilling or challenging, but it reminded me of the good old whodunnits that I like a lot.

Just one aspect that really disturbed me at the end: Raphaelle's excessive meditation about discriminated women who had to give up their jobs to stay at home and care for the children. The story really could have done without that.

I've already PMed KYH, so the book can travel home (or further) as soon as I get an address.

Very nice story, I liked reading it a lot though I spoiled the suspence a bit. When I was looking for the glossary, the description of a strathspey caught me eye and I read it. The last sentence gives away the murderer so I knew pretty soon who it was.
Nevertheless the atmospere in the Summer School must be something special. Thanks KYH for giving me the opportunity to read this.
