The Back of the Book

'Made me laugh out loud more than any book I can remember. Hornby writes like Martin Amis with a heart of Roddy Doyle with an unfeasibly large record collection ... ' Tony Parsons, Daily Telegraph

'Reading High Fidelity is like listening to a great single. You know it's wonderful from the minute it goes on, and as soon as it's over you want to hear it again because it makes you feel young, and grown-up, and puts a stupid grin on your face all at the same time. If this book was a record, we would be calling it an instant classic. Because that's what it is' Suzanne Moore, Guardian

'High Fidelity is a book that leaves you believing not only in the redemptive power of music but above all the redemptive power of love. Funny and wise, sweet and true, it is modern fiction's equivalent of Smokey Robinson and the Miracles' Greatest Hits' Mick Brown, Independant

'It is rare that a book so hilarious is also so sharp about sex and manliness, memory and music. Many men - and, certainly, all addictive personalities - will find in these pages shadows of themselves. And most of us will hear, in Hornby's acoustic prose, the obsessive chords of the past that more often lock up than liberate our hearts' Rob Nixon, New Yorker

Picked this up at the Glasgow meetup last night. Absolutely love it; it's one of those books I've read a hundred times but still manage not to have a copy of. I'll read it again and send it on.
