This is a lovely, life-affirming book. It is quite quick to read, but the tale certainly covers a lot of ground. A shepherd sets out leaving all he know behind him in order to follow his dream. His journey is long and hard - both in terms of physical distance and difficulties encountered, and of lessons learnt and spiritual growth. I thought it was a feel-good book, and feel quite sad to let it go. It is on its way today to bubbles in the United States, as part of a nervousness.org bookcrossing circle. I hope everyone in the list enjoys the book as much as I did, and that people continue to do so once the book is released into the wild.

This book made me feel so good about myself. It was a pleasure to read. I loved that it read like a parable and was so full of many different colorful characters. It made me want to listen to my heart all the time so I would reach my own destiny. It was very comforting to read. There was something that was said towards the end of the book that really touched me and I thought was so true and beautiful..."The wise men understood that this natural world is only an image and a copy of paradise. The existence of this world is simply a guarantee that there exists a world that is perfect. God created the world so that, through its visible objects, men could understand his spiritual teachings and the marvels of his wisdom." This book is a great choice to send on to others so they can read it and be uplifted too.

At the risk of sounding totaly cynical, I admit I found this book to be a clever little volume of pop psychology which annoyed me more than uplifted me. There was nothing said in here that hasn't been said a million times before -- not my cup of tea. I pass it on down the line...

An interesting little tale - it kept my attention, but I wasn't completely blown away by it either. I'm glad I read it though.

I'll be sending it along to Ladytonia right away.

This is a nice feel good book. I was not in the mood for anything heavy and live changing when I received this, so I did not try to dig deeper into the meaning behind the book. If you chose a person could spend a long time thinking about the varried ideas and meanings within this book.

I have passed it on to the next nervousness reader.

This one tries too hard, holding its unoriginal message a little too close to the eyes. I wonder if it reads as badly in the Portuguese? At any rate, I'd recommend Richard Bach's _Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah_ as an alternative. It's more creative, more interesting, and a little less painfully self-conscious about making its points.
