Another "oh my, it's all gone terribly wrong" book from the author of Day of the Triffids and the Midwich Cuckoos (made into film as the Village of the Damned)

Well, the Angel plan had to be abandoned and I went to Walthamstow instead... I left the book on one seat and moved to another, saw 2 people pick the book up, frown, and put it back, then 3 young women and a boy got on. After a few "what if it's contaminated??" comments they decided what the heck and opened it :)
