My mom was so pleased with book one (which I leant her) that she purchased this. So, I must read it. Someday soon, hopefully.

Oh, I just love these characters so much. I have to include this excerpt...although maybe it won't be as wonderful out of context.
Mma Makutsi is bemoaning the fact that, if she leaves the door open, chickens keep coming inside. "She did not like these chickens, for a number of very sound reasons. To begin with, there was something unprofessional about having chickens in a detective agency, and then, quite apart from that, the chickens themselves irritated her profoundly. It was always the same group of chickens: four hens and a dispirited and, she imagined, impotent rooster, who was kept on by the hens out of charity. The rooster was lame and had lost a large proportion of the feathers on one of his wings. He looked defeated, as if her were only too well aware of his loss of status, and he always walked several steps behind the hens themselves, like a royal consort relegated by protocol into a permanent second place.
"The hens seemed equally irritated by Mma Makutsi's presence. It was as if she, rather than they, were the intruder. By rights, this tiny building...should be a henhouse, not a detective agency. If they outstared her, perhaps, she would go, and they would be left to perch on the chairs and make their nests in the filing cabinets. That is what the chickens wanted.

Okay, I'll stop now, as this bit continues for another few paragraphs. The pacing and feelings of this book are so distinctly African...it's gorgeous. And fun.

A very satisfying read. This series is a complete joy. However, this book does not belong to me and is intended to be loaned to several of my aunts (who may or may not bookcross it) so I'll mark it as "reserved" and perhaps I may purchase my own copy some day to release.

I purchased this after my daughter loaned me the first in the series. I've enjoyed these books. Now that she's done reading it, I've taken it back and loaned it to three of my sisters.

RELEASE NOTES:

Ok, I admit it, I can't find this book on my bookshelf anymore, so I must have wild released it a few weeks ago, but I don't know where. *sigh*

Oh well. Good luck, little book.

I DIDN"T wild release this book yet. I thought I'd unpacked all my boxes when I moved this summer, but just found a box of books this weekend, which included this novel too. So, it is once again available.
