The Blind Assassin
7 journalers for this copy...
Sexually explicit for its time, "The Blind Assassin" describes a risky affair in the turbulant thirties between a wealthy young woman and a left-leaning man on the run. During their secret meetings in rented rooms and seedy cafes, the lovers concoct a pulp fantasy set on the Planet Zycron. As the invented story twists and turns through love and jealousy, self sacrifice and betrayal, so does the real one, as events in both move closer to war and catastrophe.

The mailman left it on my doorstep today (July 28). Thank you!

This book is absolutely amazing! I was quickly enthralled by it. A multilayer novel, in which the different dimensions of the narrative are in constant interrelation, and a poignant metaphor for the author as an illustrator of and actor within her own times. I'm getting more and more interested by what Atwood wrote. She's slowly taking Laurence's place, in my mind, as the best Canadian writer ever (and believe me, I love Laurence).
Thanks a million for this book. I hope the Atwood for Atwood exchange was as profitable at the other end of the line.

Monday, January 10, the book will start the following journey.

Excellent, sad wonderful story. Now, I wish I could read the book-within-the book; the real Blind Assasin. What a lovely story that could be.

Happy reading!
Happy reading!
Received this in Saturday's mail. Interesting sounding book. It is a little thicker than I thought. I have one other bookring in front of this, but it is a short read and I will get to this a soon as I finish it.
Finished this yesterday. I didn't enjoy this as much as I have enjoyed other Atwood novels. The story was interesting and I enjoyed the book within a book idea. I did find it to be a little too long for the context. I feel deleting 200 pages would not hurt the story.
I will put it into the mail today.
I will put it into the mail today.
Put this into the mail on May 13th. It is on it's way to the next happy Bookcrosser. Enjoy.
Got it today. Thank you. Will read and pass on ASAP.
Almost a quarter of the way done with this. PMing the next person.
Just can't seem to get into this at this time. Will pass on to the next person.
