10 out of 10

From blurb:
"In the shadow of Auschwitz, a flamboyant German industrialist grew into a living legend to the Jews of Cracow.
...
Thomas Keneally's Booker Prize winning novel recreates the story of Oskar Schindler, an Aryan who risked his life to protect Jews in Nazi-occupied Poland, who continutally defied and outwitted the SS, and who was transformed by the war into an angel of mercy. It is an unforgettable tale, all the more extraordinary for being true."

I rated this book 10/10 because even though I was well aware of the atrocities committed by Germany during WWII, this knowledge was in the broad sense. By focussing on the stories of individuals caught up in WWII, Keneally enables the reader to appreciate their struggle for survival in a way that a documentary about the millions killed by Nazi Germany can not.
