'At a private school two teenagers are killed by an ex-Army loner who then turns the gun on himself. As DI John Rebus puts it, 'there's no mystery...except the why'. But this question takes him into the heart of a shattered community - and to a link with his own troubled past. Rebus becomes fascinated by the killer. The man had friends and enemies to spare, from politicians to the local Goths, and left behind a leagcy of secrets and lies.
But Rebus faces his own trials too. A pretty criminal who has been stalking DS Siobhan Clarke is found burnt to death in his own home. And Rebus is fresh out of hospital, hands heavily bandaged...'

Woo! The postman has just brought this for me, along with another 2 books. Oops! I've got a few books on the go now, but luckily we're going away camping this coming weekend and that's usually a good opportunity for me to laze about and read lots, which I intend on doing, so that will make my TBR pile a bit smaller! Will journal again once I start to read this. Thank you!

Released on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at by mail in to another bookcrosser, By Post Controlled Releases.

As I said earlier, I have a few books on the go at the moment so I'm releasing this to Josh first of all, and then once he's done, it'll come back to me and I'll get it read and send on to the next person. As soon as I start to read it, I'll PM spiderchic to see if the list on the journal entry is final, and then PM the next person on the list for their address. :)

I enjoyed the book, but it took me ages to read it, not because of the book, I just didn't have chance to sit and read it for any length of time, so that probably lessened my enjoyment of it. I would certainly read more books about DI Rebus. The character is interesting, he is quite complex, and so obviously wants to shag his partner. haha.

Thanks for this book, looking forward to reading it. I've got a couple of books on the go at the moment, but I aim to start it in the next week or two. :)

I started to read this book last night. )

Journal Entry 10 by jeweleee from Bolton, Greater Manchester United Kingdom on Sunday, August 22, 2004
I really enjoyed this book, though I did get stuck from time to time, mainly due to the fact that family ties, etc, distracted me from reading it at any great length, it was more a few pages at a time and then put it down again for a few hours, so it was hard to get going on it in places, though that's nothing to do with the book.

I like DI Rebus's character, and the story is interesting in the way it twists - though I'm not giving any spoilers!

I'd definitely look out for more Rebus novels in the future.

Will post to babyimran tomorrow. :)

Thanks to spiderchic for arranging this bookray.
