This book was told from the parents point of view, what they went through while their daughter was missing. I can not imagine my child being taken in the night from our home...

The book does not go into the details of what happened to Elizabeth while she was kidnapped. The parents wrote it that way to protect Elizabeth's privacy.

I would recommend this book.

This book is well written. The faith of the parents is astounding. Felt very "churchy" to me. So if you don't understand the LDS faith, it may be a boring read.

I'm still waiting for the next person's address. Will get it in the mail once I have it.

Going in the mail on September 20th.

It took this 4 months and 5 days to arrive here. I even forgot about the bookring. I recieved it this morning wit two other books (RABCKs not rings) It looks like a short read, in comparison with the 700-pages bookring that I am currently reading. I'll hopefully read this within three weeks: right after I finish the ring I currenlty have. this looks like a very quick read anyways.

Okay..Maybe I didn't like this book much because I was reading it during my Finals period. It was good, but it does not tell any details about the kidnapping. Or lets say, not enough details. The talk about faith and religion was intresting but the Smarts overdid it I think. I'm not Christian, but then again, I think it doesn't matter as long as what's said from the biblical epigraphs is true. I liked the epigraphs in the beginning of every chapter: they do some kind of foreshadowing about whats going to be said, and they show how much faithful the parents were. A good book, but not something that you would want to read in bed. Will be sent to dodau this coming Wednesday.

This is a quick and easy read. It only took me a couple of hours. But I do have to say that there actually isn't much to this book. It tells of their reactions to finding their daughter had gone and about the hopes and dead ends during the search. But most of all they speak of their faith and their wish to keep their family together and it's a little repeatative chapter after chapter. From the few hints given you can guess a little at what Elizabeth suffered during her abduction and it really was a miracle she got home safely.

It's here! Thanks for sharing it with me. It came in the mail today. Since I'm still feeling a bit under the weather I think I will take it with me to bed

10/21/2005 Just finished the book. I always wondered how people get through trying times. I know some people wanted to read more about what was happening to Elizabeth while she was away. I actually did not need to know that is something she will live with forever. It is always nice hearing about the role of faith in one's live in overcoming and living through.

In a world where people thrive on "every little detail," I felt that this book demonstrated an important side to these kinds of tragedies, and that's on the survival of all involved. The strength and faith of the Smart family was moving, and gave me hope that there are strong people out there fighting for victim's rights. I applaud them for protecting Elizabeth enough to allow her to CHOOSE for herself when, where, and if ever she would like to share more of her story. For now, I think that what the Smart's have shared give us all an inside look at how tenuous it would be to hang onto hope and continue living and fighting in the face of such a tragedy.

**11/17/05 Have sent second PM to weebaby to get an address to forward the book to.

I received this several days ago and didn't realize I didn't journal it until today when I was trying to set up a link to my bookshelf.

I am almost exactly halfway through this book. I admit to being disappointed to not being told what happened to Elizabeth while she was being held captive, and I don't like what that says about me. I always took a bit of pride in refusing to rubberneck at accidents and not fawn over celebrity scandels, but I now see that I do have these morbid tendencies, they just tend to lie dormant. :(

So far I have been very impressed with the faith of this family. I've been in trying situations (but not NEARLY as trying as theirs!), and my own personal faith got me through, but this family has more faith than I ever did.

This definately makes me wonder what I would do if it were my son who were kidnapped.
