8 out of 10

I picked up an extra copy of this for release. My review: I was a bit disappointed in this book. Not quite as good as I had expected it to be. I don't know that I really liked Bridget all that much and in a diary format, you need to like the character to like the book. I did like the movie quite a bit so since I saw it first perhaps that spoiled the book for me.

From the back cover:
Bridget Jones's Diary is the devastatingly self-aware, laugh-out-loud daily chronicle of Bridget's permanent, doomed quest for self-improvement - a year in which she resolves to: reduce the circumference of each thigh by 1.5 inches, visit the gym three times a week not just to buy a sandwich, form a functional relationship with a responsible adult - and learn to program the VCR.

It was a decent book. I saw the movie a few years ago, but I think I forgot most of it and was able to enjoy the book. Thanks again!
