This 1987 novel is billed as "the epic novel of first contact between Man and Vulcan." And that first contact happened in the 21st century. Hmmm....
Caught in the SF LJ BC bookbox!
Granted, I have a bit of a soft spot when it comes to science fiction, but I did rather like this book. Perhaps it does shoot the existing continuity in the foot (just a little), but the cover-up seems a somewhat plausible excuse. It's not like the Star Trek continuity is forever constant; seems every second episode reveals some earth-shattering past-related tidbit. I also liked how it fit into the Star Trek continuity, since the episode referenced at the conclusion of the book was one of the few episodes of the original series I'd seen.
Overall, a decent bit of brain-candy to tide me through a long trip.

>_> ...not supposed to talk about them, but I suppose writing is all right if I'm brief.
I think it was actually last week, but I did it today anyways. The theme was BookCrossing, and I released this book and a couple others here since this was where I'd managed to successfully go to one meet-up.
