I am really looking forward to reading this book. I know readers of this trilogy will be happy to see I'm starting it, since it takes 2-3 weeks for me to read a single book in this particular trilogy.

I finished this book last night. Actually, I spent most of the past two days reading it.

Ms. Carey's writing is exquisite! This author is fairly popular, which is well deserved. I look forward to her next novel, which is about Imriel, according to her website.

Readers of Dart and Chosen will love Avatar. Joscelin and Phedre have matured greatly. I complained that there were no love scenes in Chosen between them. Avatar makes up for that. Near the beginning, Phedre no longer wishes to be chosen by Kushiel. But, when faced with the withdrawal of him, and all her gods, from her life, she chooses to keep them, in exchange for putting herself and Joscelin through hell.

Joscelin is also amazing in this book. Phedre finally knows what she has. Thankfully, the death toll is less in this book than the previous two. Carey did not introduce two characters for one to care for, then kill them, as she did in her previous two books.

I don't want to give away too much, but I felt Carey outdid herself with the story line. Darsanga was incredible. The depths to which Phedre sank are immeasurable, and instead of crying that she no longer wishes to be Kushiel's Chosen, she accepts herself.

Again, Carey's alternate history universe could be considered highly sacrilegious. However, I rather like what she has done with the world, when she changed the events that occured at a specific point in time.

I will pass this book on when I know Kushiel's Chosen has moved on.

Another fabulous book - exquisite and intricate and a fitting end to the trilogy. The main characters have all matured and become more self aware, and Phedre and Joscelin face their greatest challenges yet. I loved the spirituality of this book, which was more explicit then the previous two, and the way all the threads pulled together.

Now I know what I want to read on my way to the unconvention! One slight problem - We3Dragonets. Oh well, I might be able to snatch the odd ten minutes.

i actaully recieved this on monday, but have only just got around to journalling it, sorry for breaking the chain a bit, but to make up for it, since then i have already read it!!

i did really like this book, as it has the same amazing writing style as the first two, and the same type of amazing imagery and you can clearly see the myths and legends of our own world in this 'alternative reality' in which phedre lives in. thought the whole 'phropecy' thing was an interesting twist and what happened with imriel (that is his name?).

my only problem with this, otherwise amazing book, was the whole storyline with hyacinthe - there just didn't seem to be much to it in this novel, even though it was made a big thing of at the beginning. it seems to have been a bit 'side-lined' by the other part of the plot and then a bit rushed at the end! and am i the only one who wanted to see a menage a trois between joscelin, phedre and hyacinthe? (probably...)

apart from that excellent. this is an author to look out for in future!

Really pleased to have one more book to look forward to in this series. I only have just over 150 pages of Chosen to finish and a bank holiday weekend away from computer and work :) so hope even to make a start on this volume. I'm afraid I've rather neglected some other rings as the first two books have been unputdownable.

Sigh... I didn't want this to end. The story might be set in a mediaeval world of alternative history and involve extreme situations, but the characters are so real - I found many points of identity.

Despite my first sentence, I'm glad the author had the courage (or maybe the absence of greed) to leave this as a trilogy and not spoil it by spinning out endless sequels.

I'm sending the book to bookrabbit today, with apologies once again for holding up the ring.

OK I have to be honest . . . these books are HUGE and I have such a pile of books to be read that there is no way for me to read them in an respectable time. I will be sending them on to the next person as soon as I get their address. I am sure I would have enjoyed it if I had MORE time!
