Oryx and Crake

A RABCK!!! Thank you so much. I've wanted to read this one for a while.
June 8/04:
Literary science fiction is a strange animal, perhaps even stranger than the pigoons and rakunks in Oryx and Crake. Atwood takes ideas that have been tackled before in "low art" sci-fi and translates them for the trade paperback crowd.
Sections of the book had me hooked, but overall The Handmaid's Tale was a much more successful foray into future-fiction for Atwood.
Pre-numbered label used for registration.

Picked it up last week at a book crossing meet up. Will pass it back to fellow book crosser after reading it and then when she finished it, it shall go on it's merry little way. Well probably not so merry, it IS Margaret Atwood we're talking about here!

I enjoyed this, but wonder what a hard core sci-fi fan would think? I wasn't overly thrilled with the story, but I love Atwoods writing so much. Sometimes I would read one sentence and think 'did she work on that all day/week' because the sentence was just so perfect.

This book was going to be released to another meet up book crosser, however I have not run into him again, so now the book is going to be released to a friend who shall take it on a ship and possibly elsewhere....

I decided to free this copy of the book before reading it (I'll borrow it from the library) so I could free it away from where I found it. I left it at a Starbucks at the New York New York Hotel in Las Vegas Nevada. Happy trails!
