Jane McGregor has just been laid off from her job designing pink slips for an office supply company. The irony is not lost on her. She's a 28 year old art major whose last major career accomplishment was being propositioned by the company vice president. Desperate to maintain her freedom from her oddball parents, tyrannical older brother, and slacker ex-boyfriend, Jane starts sending out resumes. So what if some of them aren't exactly, well, true.

This cover does not do justice to the humor in this book. Jane, 28, also goes thru roommates, credit card limits and boyfriends at an amazing speed. Everything King Midas touched turned to gold...for her it turns to #@%&* (her words).

If you've read the Shopaholic series you will love this!

I liked the book, but not loved. It was funny in parts, but other parts seem to drag on and on ......
Jane, the main character while described as cute and apparently thin with blond hair... really had nothing appealing about her (lazy, all the wrong freinds, heigene takes second to everything throughout her life). I believe this character was meant by the author for the reader to find her funny and down to earth but that is not what I read into it. It was like the author Cara Lockwood was trying to pull off a Janet Evanovich style of writing but her characters were not quite there (I picked up on this when Ron looks at Jane and says "Babe". Much like Ranger always says to Stephanie in the Stephanie Plum series by Evanovich.
I am however, not trying to bash the book as I did complete it and I don't finish a book that does not keep me interested. Too many books to read for that : ). A great lite read for this time of year when you need a book you can put down and run an errand and come back to it later and pick up on it without backtracking. I would give this author another chance if given the opportunity to read another of her books.
