Journal Entry 1 by MarciNYC from Howell, New Jersey USA on Friday, November 05, 2004
I rarely give up on books, especially YA books, but this one isn't cutting it for me. I've been struggling with it and don't really care for any of the characters nor is the story engaging me. Therefore, I am going to release this book.

Journal Entry 2 by MarciNYC from Howell, New Jersey USA on Saturday, November 20, 2004
Sending this out to karendawn as part of the North American Reverse Wish List 3 relay. She fulfilled one of my wishes, it's the least I can do in return. (Actually, I'm over the moon with the book she's sending me and since I was going to send this off in the wild anyhow, I'd rather it go to someone who I know wants to read it.) Mailing: 22 Nov 2004 or the intent is to mail it then. I'm asking MisterNYC to send it for me, but sometimes he 'forgets' to do what I ask him.

Journal Entry 3 by karendawn from Lafayette, Indiana USA on Friday, November 26, 2004
The book arrived today. Thank you very much for sending this one. I'm definitely looking forward to reading it (though it must wait until I finish with some school work). Thank you so much for granting one of my wishes! :)

Journal Entry 4 by karendawn from Lafayette, Indiana USA on Thursday, March 24, 2005
A good book to provide a pleasant distraction from studying. Yes, it was a bit predictable but that's really what I wanted right now. One criticism - why is it when women go on quests, especially ones who are learning to be strong, they are not allowed to fulfill their quest on their own? Why must they always receive help from various male characters? Description from back of book: Brave and adventurous, Princess Meryl dreams of fighting dragons and protecting the kingdom of Bamarre. Shy and fearful, Princess Addie is content to stay within the safety of the castle walls. The one thing that the sisters share is their unwavering love for each other. The tables are turned, however, when the Gray Death leaves Meryl fatally ill. To save her sister, meek Princess Addie must find the courage to set out on a dangerous quest filled with dragons, unknown magic, and death itself. Time is running out, and the sisters' lives--and the future of the kingdom of Bamarre--hang in the balance.

Well, this is too funny - got this from a frugalreader, one who I have exchanged audiobooks with numerous times on bookrelay...AND it turns out that the original bookcrosser is someone I know personally! Thanks, both of you!

Although fantasy fiction is not my usual fare, I do enjoy juvenile fiction. I have read Carson Levine before in my quest to read all of the Newbery winners and honors, so I wanted to give her another try. This was thoroughly delightful; a good read for adult or young person. What I love best is Carson Levine's ability to draw on the best parts of fairy tales while making her characters have more modern sensibilities.
