"Gerald and Hyacinth had the kind of marriage others envied. She was a beautiful artist. He was a brilliant plastic surgeon. Theirs was a comfortable, happy home with two wonderful children. Then whispers of betrayal tainted Hy's perfect marriage. And in one terrible night she commits an act she will regret for the rest of her life."

7 out of 10

I got this book in a mailed box from tuff517 for the big book release May 31st. There were quite a few interesting books in the box but there's only so many hours in a day, so I chose this one to read before I had to release it at Espada.

This is one of those books that in a way keeps me turning the pages, but at the same time drives me bonkers. The main character is one of those people that refuses to get into a confrontation of any sort, no matter what! People like this drive me crazy!!! At some point you just have to draw the line. The amount of time this woman lost and the number of people she hurt and misled just because she was too timid to SPEAK UP was insane! I think I mostly got through the ~440 pages because I wanted to know if the woman ever grew a spine. Besides all that I have to say that why is it that these books always involve people who have money to burn?

I wish I had her problems, two boyfriends with money coming out of their ears and paying her rent in lavish Manhattan condos and offering to buy her horses and taking her around Europe. And one of them even knew about the "terrible night" she committed the "act that she will regret for the rest of her life." Sheesh! Of course why that is becomes clear in the end...

Ok, so back it goes into the box for the books bound for the Espada book release! I hope someone finds it, reads it, and isn't as crazed about the main character as I was. lol

7 out of 10

Well I decided to pull this one off my shelf and read it before leaving in my Bookcrossing cache.

In alot of ways I could identify with the main character. Not the blackmail or child custody part, but her personality, and they way she felt about "men" after her divorce.

Although the book is over 400 pages, it was a quick read. I figured out the "twist" before it was divulged (I hate when I do that!), but still enjoyed the story.
