I really enjoyed this book..... I felt that i was reading a true story. I did find it a bit frustrating though as at the end of the book i was left asking....."Why????"

The haunting, humorous and tender story of the brief lives of the 5 entrancing Lisbon sisters, The Virgin Suicides, now a major film is Eugenides classic debut novel.

A bewitching novel of love, pain and the end of childhood.

I have a strange feeling after reading this book. I think I would like to know the real reasons why the Lisbon girls acted that way, but on the other hand, I understand and like the point of view chosen by the writer: the point of view of the boys who lived in the neighbourhood, who were in love with the girls as only teenagers can be, and who still are somehow in love with their memory. Very interesting.

I sent it to laprofe via carboanion on Friday. Hope you enjoy it!

Thanks everybody for sharing this book.

My English is awful, I hope CaffCaff will excuse me!

I received this books three hours ago and I have to give it to Laprofe, but I won´t see her in a couple of weeks, so I wonder if I could take a look on The virgin suicides before meeting Laprofe. I saw the film and I didn´t like it, so I hope that the book will give other point of view: you can´t trust on films!

7 out of 10

I finished it yesterday, but I were so tired that writing in English looks as climbing Everest. I'm tired today too, so I hope caffcaff excuses me if I don´t write all that I think: I found this book more enjoyable than film, because boys who tell story didn´t know what Lisbon girls did in fact, so they ask their neighbors, school friends, etc and tell us their stories too: how Trip lost his virginity, a Greek grandmother behavior... I have seen things about Mr Lisbon that I didn´t see at film, but I can´t understand why Mary didn´t talk about her sisters, why they killed theirselves.

I couldn´t give this book to Laprofe this morning, because I hope I'll give it to her soon. I'm afraid of my English and of not giving an extense opinion, but if I want caffcaff to understand this journal entry, I won´t write all my thoughts, that I would explain better in Spanish!

Carboanion gave to me earlier than either of us intended :) It will have to go to the end of my TBR pile because I'm trying to read my Bookcrossing books in the order I caught them, and there's about 15 before this one!

thanks to the chain of people that brought this book all the way to me! Unfortunately, I found it very disappointing. I don't know if it was the style, or the point of view.

I will release it at the Languages Department at Uni when the school year starts.
