After i read another copy of this book in 2009, this is what i wrote...
The author is a divorced woman who went to three countries (Italy, India, Indonesia) in search of healing after a particularly grueling divorce. In theory, the book sounded good, but I felt that it came across a bit too frivolous and too similar in tone to chick lit. However, I did enjoy reading about the people that the author, Elizabeth Gilbert, met in her travels as well as the descriptions of the customs of various places. The most interesting to me was the Balinese custom of putting the soles of a baby's feet to the ground at the age of six months to celebrate the time a baby changes from a god to a human. This is a light read and will keep your interest despite its limited value as a travelogue.
